Description
Old Bust Head Brewing Company is an independent, solar-powered microbrewery in Fauquier County, VA west of DC. Our experience brewing traditional ales & lagers has helped us win awards in styles classic and creative. With beautiful views of slate roofed barns and refurbished campus-like brick buildings, Old Bust Head is part of a unique farm called ‘Vint Hill’ that for 50 years operated as a top secret military listening post. Familiar faces behind the bar share their love of craft in our 1950’s post & beam taproom while covered outdoor seating between our taproom and production area provides a welcoming environment for leashed dogs and all-weather access to a rotating variety of food trucks.

Dried leaves nose with slight caramel underneath, a bit vegetal. Clear copper, medium head. Quite vegetal, dried leaves. Medium body, harsh mouthfeel. Infected. I’m quickly losing interest in this brewery.

Canned corn and hay on the nose. Crystal clear amber, thin head. Grassy hay. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Well hopped, but not particularly fresh tasting. Better than macro, but needs improvement.

Draft pour at Novemberfest 2014. Poured a dark brown head with a nice tan head. Aroma was nice roasted malt notes, chocolate, some light coffee with some pepper skins. Flavor was nice roasted malt notes, some roasted malts. Finish had a nice kick of chili peppers on the finish. Alcohol was pretty well hidden for 10 percent.

Their lighter pale ales are a little better than this IPA. Gold pour with ok head and lacing. Light bitter finish, with some sour mash. Not super hoppy, mostly because of lighter hop varieties. Tap at brewpub.
