12 ounce bottle. Hazy dark bronze, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of raisin, toffee, dark fruits, piney hops. The taste is toffee, nuts, dark fruits, caramel, toasted malt, green, herbal hop. Medium bodied. Solid.

12 ounce bottle from Sendik’s Miller Park Way. Hazy amber, large foamy tan head, decent retention. Aroma of toasted malt and leafy hops. The taste is leafy, floral hops, grainy malt. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.

12 ounce bottle from the Miller Park Way Sendik’s. Hazy, almost murky amber, large foamy white head, poor retention. Aroma of citrus, toasted malt, tinny note. The taste is sweet caramel, apples. Overly sweet, off balance. Meh.

750 ml bottle from Tavour. Nose is cinnamon, vanilla, golden raisins, and a hint of bourbon. Lightly hazy rusty amber with a medium lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet, light cinnamon, and a hint of alcohol warmth. Nice stuff!

Keg at Whole Foods Wauwatosa. Clear amber, thin creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of wheat, tea, spice, coriander. Taste is wheat, spice, coriander, mild tea. Medium bodied, crisp, mild lingering spice.

Tap at Milwaukee Ale House. Unfiltered burgundy brown body. Respectable beige head. The cinnamon plum tea shines through in the aroma. Big, luscious Dubbel at first sip, but the tea gives it a sugary, sweet feel. Another beer where you wish they left it free of adjuncts. Bold flavors, but too sugary and streamlined in a US fashion to compare to a good Belgian version.

12 ounce bottle from Trader Joe’s Brookfield, WI, 9/4/16. Hazy amber, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of pine, candied lemon, caramel malt. The taste is pine, lemon, grapefruit, mild caramel malt. Medium bodied, decent balance, moderate lingering bitterness.

Keg at Anodyne Coffee House, 8/24/16. Clear reddish copper, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toasted caramel malt and stone fruit. The taste is caramel malt, jammy strawberries. Thin-medium bodied, simple but drinkable and pleasant.
