On tap at Real, Wild & Woody Beer Festival, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is complex, with loads of booze, vanilla beans and cocoa nibs. Flavour is boozy, with loads of alcohol and barrel character, subduing the vanilla and cocoa. A bit harsh, but well-balanced. Decent.

Draft at Fate. Dark maroon color, tan head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of brownies dipped in coffee. Taste is coffee, malted milk balls, but still has its beeriness.

Nonic pint draft at the brewery tasting room in Tempe, Arizona. The pour is a clear darker golden with a smallish white head. The aroma is floral grass hop along with a bit of vegetal. The taste is the hop, clean fresh floral grass. The vegetal element of the nose, is clearly the agave in the taste which is smooth in the flavor and works well. The palate is light to medium bodied soft carbonation and a mineral and agave clean crisp finish. Fun beer, solidly made.

Pours up at AZ Strong Ale Fest 2014 with a murky deep gold body that has a copper core and supports a teeny off white head. The aroma is sweet with malts, a touch of grainy malts and then pine hops where in the background are citrus notes and a touch of onion like dank hoppiness. The taste is sort of interesting and odd at the same time as I get a mix of resiny tangelo and grapefruit as well as sweet mango to go along with sort of an earthy lime, some dank earthy hops and pine hop infused resiny maltiness. As I think of these notes it seems they should be going together but somehow they just aren’t. Maybe the kind of thin body has thrown this off just enough. It is somehow both thin and rich and trying to be more in body than it is. Interesting.

Poured up at Flanny’s Arizona on Tap Festival with a crystal clear gold body that supports a light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up citrus hops that flow into some spicy earthy dank onion like aromatics and backed up by a mild degree of sweet malts. The taste is similar with a nice snappy mix of grapefruit and tangelo like citrus hops along with earthy spicy dank hops that give it that extra depth and interest. Lying well below the hops is a thin stream of sweet maltiness. Nice Pale.
