Description
Oxbow is a small farmhouse brewery located in rural Newcastle, Maine. The brewery is nestled in an enchanted forest amongst rolling farmlands and winding tidal rivers, of which the ebb and flow provide a constant reminder that the coast is near.
The name Oxbow is inspired by the bends in these rivers, the Dyer in particular, which features stunning horseshoe-shaped oxbows where the river covers tremendous ground to travel what could otherwise be a very short linear distance. We employ a similar approach when crafting our beers, taking months or years to create a beverage that is commonly produced in a matter of days.

Thanks Matt for bringing this to Tommy to share. enjoyed 4 ways in stemware.
A - Nose has a minor hazy orange and a 2 finger creamy head that fades fast to next to nothing.
S - Has a mild acidic and tart lemon skin bitterness like european hops and some solid wheat and tropical fruit.
T - Taste has a very clean lively fruity bitterness. I get mango and papaya with peach toward the end. Great clean tart notes, some wine barrel notes, clean grape skin.
M - Very dry with a light sweetness.
O - Great beer. deserves the current rating. Love this beer.

Keg at the brewery. Pours clear yellow with a creamy, white head. The nose holds zesty lemon and biscuity pale malts, some straw. Light sweet flavor with pleasant dry dough, some salty sourdough bread, lemon peel. Light bodied with average carbonation. Clean finish, lightly bitter, with further hay, citrus peel and restrained, biscuity pale malt sugars. Great balance, super drinkable. Great.

Keg at the brewery taproom. Pours clear, orange-gold with a creamy, white head. Nice rindy citrus nose with some tangerine, basic pale malts and dried pine needles. Medium sweet flavor with more rindy citrus, especially tangerine and grapefruit, more piney bitterness, understated pale malt backbone. Light to medium in body with fine to average carbonation. Nicely dry and pithy to finish with more citrusy hops, pine, orange rind. Solid.

Tap at the Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Poured a hazy light amber with a big frothy white head. The aroma is aroma is yeast, zesty citrus. The flavour is light acid citrus, light bitter sour with an earthy mineral citrus bitter palate and a big lingering bitter finish that never wanted to end. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

On tap @ Mikkeller. This is a hazy yellow straw colored one with a islandy lacing white top. Tart berries like white currants, white wine and woody tannins on the nose. Have to admit it smells lovely. Dry Really dry in the taste! No sweetness what so ever left here. There's dry wood, but it's in no way mouthdrying. Lively on the carbonation this and it has a light oily feeling in the mouth. More vinous touches towards the finish. Almost mineral dry all over. A fun experience! 04.05.2014

On tap @ BierCab. This is a slightly clouded one, more deep blurry perhaps golden orange in color and a nice big bright white top. Saisonish Belgian aromas, apples and candied sugar. High on the bubbles with a nice oily mouthfeel. Really pleasant fresh flavors. some yeast, ripe fruits and definitely green apples. Brett? Some alcohol hints also detected. Easy to enjoy in the heat! 05.08.2014

750 ml bottle shared by Phatdog1. Blended 11-12-13. Color shows a hazy copper color with no head. Aroma is oak barrel, burnt caramel, mild white wine and Brett funk.
Flavor is rather funkadelic. Sour oak, tannins bitterness throughout the sip. The main body also presents a smokiness from what must be smoked malts. displays a mild pucker in the back of the taste buds that lingers. The smoke and funk is real interesting. I can appreciate what the brewer did with this brew but it really isn’t my thing.
