Description
It was in 1973 that the adventure of the "Au Baron" brewery began. Alain Bailleux then purchased the last bistro in the village there. There he meets Danielle who will become his wife. Together, they embark on small catering. Later, Alain and his father, retired master brewer, challenge each other; create a craft brewery. This will be done on June 8, 1989 when Gussignies inaugurated the village brewery with Saint-Médard, a beer inspired by the farm-breweries of yesteryear. For a few years now, Florence and Xavier have taken over the reins of the family business and continue to make the Baron prosper by adding a local store where you can buy beers and products from local producers.

Courtesey of Sebletitje. 75 cl. bottle sampled prob. 2012 Vintage. Pours a darker amber, clear only very little beige bubbles on the sides for head. Nose is very sweet and candy, brown sugar, very heavy on the candy and sweetness, caramel and very thick toffee. Taste is rye, other ,alts; bread, lightly , mouldy, bitter alternative melts, unwanted bitter herbs, light caramel, toffee, strongly oxidized; bitter metal and herbs. Better smell than taste. Lighter carb. Past it, better smell than taste.

75cl bouteille partagée avec mon père. BB 12/2014, Lot#48.

8/III/13 - 33cl bottle from... don’t remember, probably De Hopduvel or Geers, shared @ home, BB: no month / 2014 (2013-???) Entering this in 2022, when I discovered I hadn’t rated it, and also discovered a bunch of old beer labels from 2013, allowing me to roughly locate this rating in time and look it up in my backlog.

Pretty cloudy light amber beer, small off-white irregular head, unstable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: overripe fruits, honey, a bit chemical, sugary, spicy. MF: ok carbon, light to medium body. Taste: a bit sweet, some citrus, something rotten, nasty, pretty bitter, meaty, grains. Aftertaste: sweet still, rotten stuff, some alcohol, overripe banana, pretty off... Don’t like it...
