On tap at the brewpub
Hazy yellow with a small white head and some lacing. Aroma of fresh green peppers. Flavors of fresh peppers, some sweetness then a nice mellow bite in the back of the throat.
Nice, I liked this. One of the better Chili beers I’ve had. A nice clean and refreshing beer. Not overly hot, but you know it was there.

From a Holwer purchased at Liquor Shed.

A- pours a hazy amber with a 1 finger head of foam and looks to have some good lacing.

S- I get some notes of grassy hops and biscuit malt. It also has a strange but nice fruity aroma.

T- fruity notes are in the taste as well with a good level of biscuit and oh...the fruitiness is on the slightly sour side. Intentional? I don’t know but it sure makes this Amber "interesting".

M- medium body, light carbonation. It could use a tad more fizz, imho.

O- tough to say. I kind of like the tart notes but then again, should they be in a beer of this style? Ultimately, I say no, but it is a drinkable brew.

A strange tartness, not all that bad though, prevents me from scoring it higher.

Purchased a Howler of this from Liquor Shed in Casper.

A- it pours a deep reddish brown with about an inch of foam, leaves some nice lacing behind.

S- nice aromas of caramel malt with a fruity, citrusy, hop nose backing it up.

T- almost a balance between the sweet notes from the malt and the fruity/citrus hops that are more noticeable when I swish the beer in my mouth...yeah, a kind of hoppy Scottish Ale but for me, it works. Others may beg to differ when they would compare it to the classic examples of the style.

M- medium bodied with a light level of carbonation, I like the mouthfeel.

O- definitely a different example of the style but it’s a tasty one so I won’t judge it harshly.

2013 edition, bottle number 336 of 400, $16.19, 22oz, black wax.

A- it pours black with a 1 finger head of tannish foam, good lacing.

A- very roasty, notes of chocolate, vanilla, some booze from the Whiskey barreling.

T- it’s very hot. I get a ton of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, vanilla in the background, light notes of Whiskey.

P- on the light side of medium bodied, lightish carbonation, not the greatest mouthfeel.

O- like I said, very hot and not all that good tasting. I wonder what some cellaring would do but the carbo is already light. I can’t give it a hearty recommendation.

Red waxed 22 oz bottle, not dated.

A- a clear gold-red colour, with about a 1 inch head of foam and is good with the lacing

A- a pretty strong aroma of oranges, light biscuit, some light citrus. good smelling brew.

T- orange up front, then it becomes decidedly bitter as in grapefruit bitterness. What a punch. My palate is getting used to it now...slight malt presence, maybe biscuit? Hard to tell because of the rather intense hop notes. It finishes like it starts with that orange flavour that seems to intensify as the beer warms up. My bad, i pulled this straight from the fridge.

P- kind of light bodied for the style but with the mediumish carbonation, I find that combo works just fine.

O- I couldn’t find any info on the abv but there’s little sign of the alcohol and I’m half way through.

Now finishing up and I have to say, this is a fun beer to drink. Pretty refreshing after mowing the lawn and now just sitting here, in front of the laptop, taking the last few sips.
A bit on the dear side cost wise, +$11 a bottle, i don’t regret buying the 2 bottles and I’ll probably buy more. Oops, a hint of the alcohol just now hit me. lol.

A- very hazy lemon yellow, small head of foam, decent lacing.

S- Oranges, cloves, light banana..mostly orange citrus.

T- Oranges, light citrus, wheat, light cloves.

M- light body, medium carbonation, not a bad mouthfeel until the finish, where it gets watery.

O-pretty average example of the style but drinkable.

A- A hazy straw yellow, 1 finger head of foam, some lacing

S- Light notes of wheat, citrus, peppers.

T- Light grain flavour with a nice malt presence, hints of citrus, chili peppers start off slowly but man, mid palate on it gets big and after the swallow, there’s heaps of heat. The warming in my tummy is very soothing.

M- On the high end of light bodied, low but adequate carbonation.

O- This is a very good chili ale that actually BRINGS the chili taste and heat that a lot of others only promise. Yum!

1/2 Growler, $6

Weird pour. No sign of any head until I finished pouring and then it slowly formed about a half inch with a bit of lacing.

The smell is slightly roasty, a bit hoppy, with some note of a tartness?

The taste has a decent roast character with some hoppiness, a hint of coffee and again, some tartness like some O2 got into the mix.

Thin bodied, light carbonation, it doesn’t excel in the mouthfeel department either.

Overall, the flavours do not seem to have any harmony going on. I can’t recommend it.

A hazy deep amber colour, 1" head of foam.

I smell an apricot kind of hoppiness going on that has a light bitterness, some light notes of bread.

The taste is apricot citrus, earthy bready malt, good amount of sweet per bitter ratio.

Good lightish mouthfeel and body...carbonation is on the low side.

This is a nice beer of the style that’s easy to drink a couple of glasses of, no problem. So far, my favourite from the brewery.
