Description
The Broad Ripple Brewpub was established in 1990 by Englishman John Hill, born in Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire, and his wife Nancy, a Hoosier native. It is Indiana’s very first brewpub (a restaurant that brews its own beer) and the oldest operating brewery in the state. The Brewpub was designed to recreate a typical English pub with its dark wood paneling, leaded stained glass windows, decorative tin ceiling, and cozy fire place. The Brewpub has one of the largest outdoor cafes in Broad Ripple Village, seating up to seventy people.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a murky dark brown color with a cap of a little white dieing head that fell off at a mild pace. No lace.
The aroma had some caramel/toffee malts up front playing with a little bit of milk chocolate. Slight vanilla.
The flavor was definitely sweet all of the way through. Soft sweet aftertaste of the chocolate and caramel. Finish was semi-sticky smooth.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV seemed about right.
Overall, decent for what it is, but I somewhat missed the Fuggles hop portion.

The appearance was a soft dark brown close to black color with a fingers worth of white to off white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Sliding lace.
The aroma had some milk chocolate, grains/cereals, some earthiness, and a touch of woodiness.
The flavor was semi-sweet with a sturdy embracing bitterness from the wood flowing in for the blend. Aftertaste was semi-bitter with the sweetness from the chocolate. Not much of a finish.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, seemed more like one of those Euro dark lagers than a real schwarzbier, still, its nothing bad, just dont expect to get an authentic German schwarzbier.
