Bottle directly from brewery Monastic Store. Color: Almost black, very thin beige head. Aroma: Roasted malt, dark dried fruit, coffee notes. Taste: Slightly sour, fruity coffe beans and dark dried fruit, vigs, roasted malt, hints of licorice. Moderate sweet and bitter. Over medium to full body, a little sirupy, just under average carbonation. Like (almost) always, Haagsche Broeder didn't brew a standard beer, but an Imperial Porter with a nice refreshing fruity and slightly sourish 'Haagsche Broeder twist' that's clearly recognizable when you've had more of their beers. Very nice.

Very dark brown colour with no head. Aroma and flavour have sweet fruity esters. The wood comes through too adding plenty of dryness. A bit thin.

Bottle. Color: Hazy orangish golden, fast disappearing thin white head. Aroma: Malty, fruity citrus, stone fruit and grape, boozy Brandy. Taste: Fruity and boozy grapes, Brandy. Hints of citrus and light hints of stone fruit. Malty and grainy base. Light hopbitterness. Light to moderate tart. malty background, spicy and yeasty hints. Under average carbonation, medium body. Maybe not the best combination of base beer and barrel. The base beer is overwhelmed by the fruity and boozy barrel and at some times the base beer seems completely gone in my opinion. I doubt wether this beer is also 7% like the base beer, as stated on the label. This one seems a lot more boozy. Overall not bad though.

Slightly sour, light sweet and light bitter, going to moderate / over moderate herbal bitterness at the dry-ish finish. Lightly creamy mouthfeel.
