Description
Diamond Bear Brewing Company was founded in 2000 by Russ and Sue Melton with the mission of providing Arkansas and the region with a beer of their own. Diamond Bear was Little Rock’s first production brewery in 15 years. The name "Diamond Bear" comes from the first two nicknames for Arkansas. Initially, Arkansas was called "the Bear State." But in 1905 when diamonds were discovered in Arkansas, it was changed to "the Diamond State."

Double IPA in bitterness only, lacking any big citric/herbal/floral hop flavors, instead offering up a massive caramel corn malt sweetness followed by biscuit-laced super-boozy finish. Vodka nose, vodka feel. At least it’s pretty?

Tap at GABF. Pours a cloudy orange with medium off white head that lasts. The aroma is pine and bready malt. Medium body, toffee, grass, light bitterness, good.

Pours a cloudy orange red with a good head of foam and decent retention.

Smells and tastes bready and grainy, definitely not overly sweet. .could use more of that, imho.

Pretty ample body and carbonation.

Just another average Oktoberfest.

Bottle: Almost black, with a small tan head. Slightly oily, chocolate, vegetal aroma. Taste is lactic, chocolate malt. Fairly bitter.....again, that oily, vegetable note comes through. The scent is a little off-putting....the flavor is slightly better, but overall, not one I’d repeat.

Sampled from a 0.33l bottle @ Haandfest 2015, courtesy of Cunningham. This is a nice golden looking one, a mild blurry to it and lots of off-white lacings in the glass. Smells kinda sweet and a little grainy. Mild fruity also in a way. Yeah, a nice sweetness in the taste also. Sweet pale malts and a little alco burn toward the finish. How strong is this? Thin green yeasty also. Not bad actually these few drops. 30.05.2015
