Curious blonde ale, with the blood oranges not leaving the pint too sweet or tart; grainy malts provide an nice base, and the Hallertaus complement the citrus. There’s a funky note underneath, though, and I can’t tell if it’s due to yeast or maybe from dry-hopping with such a strong Noble hop. It’s not unpleasant—it actually adds a nice earthy layer to the beer—but it’s unexpected. Not bad.

Ruby brown hazy color. Dark malts and acetic sour, mild. Nothing special here and I couldn’t even tell there is coffee. So... meh.

Light hazy pale gold at the brewpub. Aroma is sweet Swedish fish candy. Thick malt sweetness and light appley skins yeastiness. Flavor is a bit sharp esters with dusty alcohol and some sweet cherry. A bit of a crazy mush mash. Some tea leaves finish.

Bottle pour into pint glass from Friar Tuck. Appearance is hazy golden yellow with trace white head, decent sparkle, no lacing. Aroma is coffee, caramel. Taste is coffee and caramel but also a sour element that doesn’t fit. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, soft-to-flat carbonation, bitter coffee and sour finish. Overall, this started with promise, like Stone’s Master of Disguise, but an odd sour element and an unpleasant mouth feel are major detractors.

Bomber from Wine & Cheese. Pours hazy red/brown with a beige head. Aroma is lightly earthy/musty/woody/sour red berry. Med body. Flavor is a light version of the aroma. It’s a mellow, laid back sour/brown. I could drink it all day. Not by preference perhaps, but why not.

Bomber from Wine & Cheese. Pours hazy dirty gold with a white head. Strong, indeed pungent, aroma of hops with a hint of caramel. Aroma suggests pale fruits, graham flour and white berries. Med + body. Flavor is nigh dank hop - earthy, fruity, maybe citrus. It’s kind of a hop muddle, but it is hoppy and bitter, balanced a bit with some sweet maltiness. Maybe a tobacco note in time. Seems disconcertingly complex.
