Bottle from Koufuku: pours light brown with white head. Aroma is light smoke, maltiness. Dryish, bready, light smoke. Fine.

Bottle from Corti Bros. Pours gold with a large, but transient, foamy white head. Aroma is more floral than anything else. Med body. Pretty bitter. Flavor is floral with a bit of citrus. Dry. Bitter. Very good for a Session IPA.

Bottle from Corti Bros. Pours clear gold with a moderate off-white head. Aromas of yeast, wheat and coriander. Near med body. Towards dry and at least moderately bitter. Flavor is citrus zest, yeast and coriander. Overall impression is dry/herbal/bitter. Maybe this should be re-entered as a wit beer.

Bottle from Corti Bros. Pours dark mahogany with a huge frothy beige head. Aroma of roasty ambery malt with some hops that seem floral. Med body. Fairly dry. Moderately bitter. Malt like the aroma. Hop is more than floral but nothing like citrus or pine. Ambery stuff is not my favorite, but this is decent.

Started off hating this, but I gotta admit: it grew on me. Not an IPA in any American sense of the style, but offers up a crisp pale malt front followed by a boisterous herbaceous back end, full of fennel and anise and green tea. Very different, but tasty.

Can. Lemony citrus hops, wheat malt. A bit on the thin side. Balanced and without major flaws, just not very interesting.

Kizakura Lucky Dragon Pale Ale 5% Looks pretty good as it’s a nice Amber orange in color with a thick beige dense head of foam which lasts a long time. However, the aroma is a candyish woodsy pine with very rough edges. Medium bodied with a sharp finish, the taste is very bitter pine with a tiny bit of citrus notes. Again, it is rough and not well balanced. Honestly, I don’t know why I bother with this series. They’re probably all the same beer with a different can/label each year.

Can from Yamaya. Orange-amber, clear, thick head. Malty nose, lots of C hops, citrus, bit of pine. Decent citrus flavor, light and crisp, bit of rice, medium sweetness, soft bitterness in the finish. Approachable and easy. Not bad.

Straight from the can so no comments on the looks. Aroma of malts and biscuits. Taste of malts, grains, biscuits and some notes of citrus fruits. Low bitterness. Medium carbonation. Thin mouthed. Watery and insipid. Disappointing.
