On tap at T.Y. Harbor Brewery. Hazy amber gold color with a creamy off-white head. Grass, citrus and grain on the nose. Slightly bitter but sweet. Well-balanced malt and hops. Good.

On tap at smokehouse. Hazy orange color with an off-white head. Pine needle, floral hops and grapefruit aromas present. Flavor is fairly hop forward to its a touch of caramel malt in there. Long lingering bitter finish.

On tap at TY Harbor restaurant. Brownish amber color with a modest beige head. Toasted malt, toffee and light citrus aromas present. Strong caramel malty backbone with well-balanced citrusy hops on the finish. Creamy and rich mouthfeel. Full body with a nice bitter finish.

From tap at Beerfes Tokyo. Dark, thick, slightly mahogany red. Only a bit of foam. Aroma has some dark roast, strong cocoa, taste tilting towards cocoa and especially towards chocolate. Dark black bitter chocolate. Wonderful as it is not so sweet. Bitter and dark chocolate. Body is surprisingly relatively light but it still has everything I want.

On tap at Ibaraki Bakuon. A beer made with Maris Otter, Nugget, Saaz & pear purΓ©e. A light very cloudy milky gold with minimal head. The aroma is soft estery pear, the taste is sharp ultra-sweet pear very much like a beer cocktail. Tasty enough but a bit too syrupy sweet.

700 yen at Craft Beer Baby. A dark brown-black pour with a brown head. A savory roasty nose, a bit weak. Medium bodied but smooth. The taste is dark bitter malts, roasty and savory. Ok but not terribly imperial.

On tap at Dig Bar, a dark brown pour with a thin filmy beige head. The nose is solid coffee goodness. The beer is medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Lots of roast coffee flavor, dark coffee beans & milky lactic sweetness. Ap 4 Ar 8 T 8 P 4 O 14

Tap at Dig. Deep blonde color with lace. Butter bomb in the nose, huge toffee and butterscotch, lots of diacetyl. Butter and alcohol flavor, toffee and cardboard. Way too young. Terrible.

Draft to a plastic cup @ Nippon Craft Beer Festival 2014. Pours hazy amber, a bit of foam. No aroma in the beginning, maybe itβs too warm. Taste is very IPA-like though. Hops are biting right away, resiny and pine needle notes follow. Strong body balancing hop bitterness. Long bitter aftertaste where you can also feel some melon and pine needle next to each other. Well done IPA, that can be sipped slowly. At the same time not overly special, good example of a style.
