End of the keg shared by Mick, it was a really cloudy pink-gold with a soft wheaty body. The taste was sweet peaches but more wine cooler than beer like. Still it tasted fine.

On tap at Ibaraki Bakuon. A cloudy honey gold with an aroma that evokes bitter canteen coffee. The taste is like a milk coffee with sugar, good enough but zero hops. It nails making a gold coffee beer and that’s fun but why bother to include IPA in the name when it has zero hop character?

Tap at Bakuon 16. Huge coffee nose. Just coffee, really. I might get a touch of citrus hops, but not sure. Orange color with lace. Flavor also big coffee, but a bit more citrus coming though and a touch of malt. Tastes nice enough, as the coffee is not sour or astringent, but it really overwhelms everything else. I would use about 1/3 as much coffee.

Tap at Bakuon 16. Cloudy pale yellow color. Nose or peaches, wheat, crackers. A but sweet, with tangy peaches. Decent but lacks depth.

On tap at Qbrick’s last night open. A dirty opaque orange pour with a floral orange aroma. slightly rough earthy malts and mildly bitter citrus and herbal hop notes for a middle of the road pale ale.

Tap at Osaka Castle. Orange with a low head. Nose of biscuit malt, orange, peach. Mild and fruity flavor, bready and biscuit, mild bitterness. Not particularly English feeling to me, but good enough.

Tap at Osaka Castle. Deep black, pretty head. Nice cocoa and coffee nose, milky. Chocolate flavor, a bit phenolic with berries, full flavor and a big bitter finish.

On tap at Craft Beer Holiday. TY Harbor Cacao Stout 7% A chocolate brown with a burnt orange head of foam. The nose is like a decadent chocolate pastry with fudge overtones. Medium bodied with a raspy carbonation, it’s much dryer than I want in this kind of brew. My personal preference is a velvety smoothness. The taste is good, nutty, dark chocolate with some breadiness, a little roasty and maybe a touch of acrid dark malts but not excessively so. Well done.
