Bottle: pours gold with white head. Aroma is lightly funky, some citric notes, a flower. Taste is lightly tart, mostly sweetish. Very rustic/farmhousey. A fine beer but hardly spectacular.

Aromas are malt, rye bread, toffee, metallic. Aromas are similar to nose, losing the metallic. Mildly sweet up front going to bittersweet. Goodbody and carbonation. Nice ESB.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear gold with a huge white head that turned foamy and laced. Aroma is floral/tropical. Med body. Juicy and somewhat sweet. There is balancing bitter. There are earth and spice notes, but tropical fruit is the main thing. Citrus - kind of grapefruit pith - maybe some orange. Excellent flavor.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear brassy gold with a large white head. Aroma is pale stone fruit - to include apricot. Med body. Fruity and lightly bready. Quite dry. Oh so decently bitter - with a slight bite even. Flavor has white peach, apricot and a tang that might be citrus. Extremely good flavor.

Can from Tavour. Pours hazy gold with a moderate white head. Aroma has a lot of citrus with a resin note. Med body with smooth carbonation. Juicy but not sweet. Nicely bitter. Flavor is a lot of citrus, including grapefruit pith, and some pine/resin with a little earth. Very good flavor.

Dark brown. Lots of hazelnut on the aroma, and a good coffee. On the palate, there's a shit ton of hazelnut, and it's still exceptionally good. The coffee character is bigger than on the nose, and arguably that brings it into better balance. There's a nice balance to the barrel as well. Rich sugars, good body. Excellent, as all King's Head variants are.

500mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma has a bright, clean hazelnut coffee character upfront, accentuated by bourbon barrels, and a touch of vanillin. Flavour is complex and elegant, with a great melange of intense hazelnut coffee and bourbon barrels in wonderful cohesion, with just enough booze, a touch of vanillin, and restrained sugars that offer just enough sweetness. Expertly done as usual.

500mL bottle. Pours black with no head. Loads of toasted hazelnuts, coffee, and roasted malts on the nose. Flavour is rich with toasted hazelnuts, coffee, oatmeal, brown sugar, and a really nice bourbon barrel finish. Great base, adjuncts work great, and all well-integrated with the barrels. This is excellent.

Taster showing pale straw with a finger of clean white foam.
The nose shows moderately intense notes of spelt and light brett and Belgian saison yeast.
The palate is well carbonated and light bodied. Lightly Belgian yeast forwardness but dry. Clean and easy but a little light on flavor. But that's the way its meant to be.
