Growler @ Miami Fandango ’10 gathering. Pours hazy golden straw, no head. Aroma sour note, keylime goodness and a touch of spices. Flavors, light body and complex sour bomb with tons of keylime lemon sourness. The raspberry is mild and yet noticeable adding the prickly tartness of raspberries. Overall mouthfeel keeps a corn like presence with effervescent finish. This one just gets better regardless of the first astringent shock of the first sip.

On tap at the ‘010 FL Brewer’s Ball. Pours deep dark brown with deep copper edges and nice tan head. The aroma is an interesting combination of spicy hops, roasty malts and rich yummy chocolate with a touch of grapefruit and hop resin around the edges. The taste is smooth and coats the tongue with chocolate and malt roastiness and then punctuated by sort of grapefruit and spicy hop bitterness. It stays roasty torward picking up a light amount of sweet caramel into the finish. It dries out a touch with dark roastiness.

sampled from a growler at Cigar City, pours thin yellow. Strong funky nose of rubber lemon and more funk. Super tart with citrus and vinegar notes. So strong for such a low alcohol beer.

Poured up on tap at the CCB mini opening a hazy sandy dirty lemon color. The aroma is bold and thick with soured citrus, graininess, some wheat as well as sweaty neck leathers (does such a thing exist?). The taste is big bold old dirty shoe sour citrus and farmhouse grainy. This is refreshing and bursting with flavor. This isn’t like the other Berliners I’ve had but it seems like the typical American approach by making the flavor (not ABV) more of an Imperial Berliner Weisse. I say “yes, I’ll have another.” Fantastic!

Poured up on tap at the CCB mini opening and looking deep dark void like with dark mocha head and sparse spotty lacing. The aroma emits dark roasted malts, dark chocolate bar, black licorice, chocolate brownie and a dash of dark fruitiness. The taste is smooth and velvety and quickly becomes roasty to burnt as well as a slight spicy sense of oak (hmm?) and yummy yummy sweet velvety dark chocolate. Nice stuff Doug!
