At a tasting, thanks, stable bubbly head, clear darkish orange color, light citrusy woody hebal aroma, flavor of cooked fruits and candy with a citrus hint, light bitterness. Drinkable but not too good.

Tap at Bakuon 16. Orange-gold, cloudy, high head. Fruity, citrus nose, oranges, peaches, cloves. Very citrusy and a bit tart, with light banana notes. Crisp yet full. A very nice weizen in the tart, citrusy vein. Better than the old one for sure.

33cl can from the train station in Hiroshima. Slightly hazy dark golden with a modest, white head. Mild fruity and malty aroma with hints of honey, ripe oranges and caramel. Fairly sweet, rather mild flavours and modest bitterness. Better than the pale lagers here, but not quite as refreshing as I hoped for. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pale Ale on 12 Apr 2016 at 16:30 - Score: 5

Bottle thanks to Dusan & Simona. Probably infected. Fruity, apricot, acetic. Not really good unfortunately.

Bottle thanks to Dusan & Simona. Simple pale ale. Too much body and caramel, does not let the hops shine. Otherwise ok.

Can with thanks to my wife! Pours murky, almost mudy amber, small white head, lasting, decent lacing. Aroma is corn syrup, vegetal, sharp and phenolic. Flavor is quite sweet, harshly bitter, very corny, unpleasant. Medium body, low carbonation. Lingering metallic bitterness.

Can, picked up by my loving wife in Kyoto. (My wife went to Japan and all I got was this lousy blond ale :)) Pours quite hazy apricot, small fizzy white head, dissipates quickly with a bit of lacing perhaps. Aroma is very corny, grains, honey. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, hmmm. Light plus body. Corn and more corn.

Snagged the last bottle of Miyajima’s Pale Ale at Isetan tonight. It pours a murky orange gold with quite a nice fruity pine hop bouquet featuring pineapple & passion fruit. A zesty carbonation on a med-light body. The flavor has clove phenols which is more Weizen like. The hop bitterness isn’t so apparent while it has a somewhat astringent character to it. Not bad but way too phenolic for a pale ale in my opinion, not to style. Looking at the label it seems this version was made at Yamaguchi Narutaki Kogen Brewery.

Ambar.

At a tasting, thanks, small head, very cloudy gold color, aeoma of, corn, wood and wort, woody, yeasty flavor with a fruity hint, strange strong sourness. Really bad.
