Bottle: Pours clear, bubbly, honey-gold with a short, off-white head. Honey, light smoke, coffee-cake aroma. Taste is the same...malty, sweet... A slight cream soda/ginger essence. .......and more honey...... Very soft and mild for the ABV, though it lends an almost mead sort feel to it. Quite tasty.....though not a lot of smoke to it.

Draft. Tangy orange malt and orange peel aroma. Amber with small head. Sweet-sour orange juice, lime, and mildly bitter orange peel flavor. A nice fruity pale ale (and again, more bonus points for another "Christmas Story" reference).

Draft. Chocolate oatmeal malt aroma. Black with small head. Lightly sweet chocolate oat malt and lightly bitter hay flavor. Nice - on the dry side. Bonus point for the obscure "Christmas Story" reference.

2014 bottle. For my 3000th rate, I opted to go with this limited release from a local brewery in my home state. On my 2000th rate, I decided this was going to become my tradition for my big mile marker rates. Sweet smoky lactic chocolate, dark fruit, coffee, light spicy - probably from the rye, and a little alcohol aroma. Black brown with a moderate tan head which dissipated to a small, long-lasting head with thick creamy lacing. Sweet smoky lactic chocolate, spice (probably the rye), roasty malt, dark fruit, and creamy vanilla flavor. Alcohol is well hidden. Full creamy body, moderate carbonation, rolls around nicely on the tongue. Very well done impy from a new brewer. I’m glad I’ve got a second bottle to age.

Sample at GABF 10/04/2014, thanks to my BIL for assistance with note-taking. Clear pale straw color with a thin white head that burns away quickly. Spotty lacing. Lemons, wheat and spice in the nose. Light-bodied with a lemony character and notes of herbal wheat and malt. The finish is fruity with a tart citrus aftertaste. Decent overall.
