06.07.2024, 0,3l bottle @ hotel room in Tokyo:
Flat, slightly cloudy straw colored with some sediment chunks floating around. Aroma is slightly sweet funky floral, dusty honey, yeast, hay, flowers, alcohol, some funky sake like notes. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish floral, yeast, citrus, alcohol, sour grass, hay, flowers, dusty honey, paper, minerals, leafs. Slightly sweet sour-ish floral mouthfeel. Kind of weird.

Golden clear colour, small white bubbly head. Aroma is bit hoppy, bit malty bit not very exciting. Taste is ok, bit of fruitiness, some bubblegum. Bitter finish. It's ok enough.

Dark brown with thick golden head. Aroma is schwarz like, soy sauce, bit of choc, lightly malty. Taste is similar, quite sweet, bit of creaminess, some dark choc, but mainly sweet. Slight caramel and that schwarzy soy sauce thing. Maybe named stout just because it is black as sometimes seems to happen here.

Bottle from an omiyage shop in front of Gora station. Pours a deep gold with a finger of foam that dissipates fairly quickly. Sweet malt and faint wet paper on the nose. Some light bread pudding notes and grassy hops. Sweet with a faint, invisible hop finish and some lingering banana. Weird. --- Beer merged from original tick of Sagami Pale Ale on 19 Oct 2016 at 21:30 - Score: 5. Original review text: Thin yeasty, tired hops. Meh

Bottle from omiyage shop at Gora. Dark brown pour with a small beige head that dissipates quickly. Light licorice and bread notes on the nose. Thin and watery with a bit of watered down coffee on the palate. Sweet with a touch of roast on the finish. More of a schwartz to me I suppose, and not a very good one. --- Beer merged from original tick of Sagami Stout on 19 Oct 2016 at 21:28 - Score: 5. Original review text: Thin and roasty.

330 ml bottle, marked as Miyagase Hikari no Meruhen, bought @ Miyagase Christmas Festival. Although label is different, it is probably only relabelled for this event. Yes, even if the label behind the bottle is saying just "Sagami Beer" then fortunately the small label on the cap specifies: kölsch. Pours clear golden, with white head that is gone fast. Aroma is quite malty, grains and some fresh porridge. Taste is quite smooth and soft, grainy bread turning a bit sour. Aftertaste dry with some hop bitterness. Quite usual Japanese kölsch I would say - not my favourite style but I guess this one is executed OK, would prefer this over Asahi or Kirin any time.

12 oz bottle bought in Hakone. Very dark color, but not quite black and opaque. Beige head, uneven. Aroma’s: hard roasted malts, a bit moccha, ground coffee. Also some sweet malts retronasal. Flavor is roasted-acidic, some burnt malts, lightly sweet. Light bodied, a bit too thin. Not much going on in the finish. Like Minoh Stout, the aroma is the best part, but disappoints a bit after that.

At the Yokohama Brewer’s Cup, on tap. It poured a dark gold with thin white foam. A nice sakuramochi aroma. The body was fairly neutral, kind of a lager type base but the sakura make up most of the flavor. I found it milder than Sankt Gallen’s Sakura but very easy to drink, quite nice.

Bottle. Rich dark chocolate aroma, some grass, earth, cream. Rather nice chocolate character.   very dark brown, cloudy, with a thin head.  Big chocolatey flavor, some malt, a bit of fruity sweetness. Rther sweet and not very beer-like, though slightly. Has a slight cola flavor. Ok for what it is.
