The name Cramer has been synonymous with Warsteiner since 1753. Today the ninth generation of the clan, Catharina Cramer, carries on a long tradition of brewing excellence, backed by a rich German heritage, a high-quality range and a clear strategy to continue shaping the future of the German and the international beer market.

In 1753, farmer Antonius Cramer was asked to pay beer tax for the first time as his home brewing volumes surpassed by some way the volume allowed for personal consumption. Little did he know that his actions would kick-start a long-standing brewing tradition in Warstein – a small town located in the middle of the beautiful Arnsberg forest, in the heart of Germany’s Sauerland region. Since that date, the business has gone from strength to strength.

A yellow beer with a white disappearing head. Both the aroma and flavor is sour malty, the end is dry, and the body thin. The sournes probably stems from the lack of alcohol.

Extremely pale gold, totally clear; very fine white head, slowly collapsing. Chalk, milk-ripe grain, raw milk, summer wheatfields. Pale, metallic taste, getting quite bitterish for an instant, then leaking the pale malt through. Ends metallic-hoppy again. The balance malt-hops is impressive, the taste is awful. If these were noble hops - how have they been treated? Thin, watery texture, some burning. One really would have expected better from Germany’s N°1 selling Pilsener.

Pale yellow, foamy white head, some lace. Nose has grass or hay, but aroma is quite weak. "Interesting" flavor which is maybe boiled vegetables, rye or brown sugar or all of them. Quite watery palate, a bit sugary aftertaste.

Bottle: Poured a golden beer with a small head with almost no retention. Aroma is very weak with small touch of malt and sweet coming out of my glass. Taste is also very weak, almost watery with no hops detectable. Very bland and boring pilsner. I guess this could be an OK session beer on a beach down south…

Very light in color. Small head flattens out quickley. Smells a bit sweet. Honey maybe and, yes, doughy. Taste is a bit thin, light, theres the honey again. Not much hops. Palate is like club soda. Not very interesting in general.

Bottled. Looks like your choice on Lufthansa is Warsteiner or Becks. Warsteiner turned out to be just a notch above most beers of its kind. Its character actually lets the mild hop profile come through. Still hard to get past the fact that it looks and pours just like a Miller.

Bottle 4,8%. Plenty, fine head. Pale golden colour. Smells a little grainy, but tastes better. Good maltiness, a little sweet. OK mouthfeel.

This was pretty much a cheap German lager with dark food coloring. I didn't get much character out of this dunkel, although it was sweet. Otherwise the aroma had hints of metallic hops. A lame example; I'm surprised this is actually referred to as a dunkel on this website as it lacks character.

A yellow beer with a fine head. The aroma is sweet malty - and so is the flavor. A good but average pilsener.

Pale blond colour, white frothy head, not lacing. Sweet hoppy soaplike aroma. Quite neutral initial flavour, moderately bitter in the end. Soft mouthfeel - drinks very easy.
