About
Brasserie du Bocq was set up in 1858 by Martin Belot. The Brewery was incorporated into a limited company in 1949. Independent of any Belgian or foreign brewer, it still beholds its own family nature. Located in the heart of the Condroz, wonderful tourist region, this dynamic company still uses the traditional manufacturing process of top-fermentation beers with secondary fermentation in the bottle.
In 1983, Brasserie du Bocq abandons the exploitation of Central Brasserie Marbaix -La-Tour, to bring all the beer production back to Purnode where the production tools have been radically modernized on the basis of equity. Today in Purnode, although the Belot family has sold its assets to the Keersmaekers family who has been producing the Corsendonk at the Brasserie du Bocq for over 30 years, and even though the brewery has far exceeded its regional framework, nothing has changed and the values of the company remain intact.

Bottle picked up in Namur. Cherry red with a full head. Aroma is ruby fruits. Flavours of cherry and raspberry, dry fruit wine base, tart finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Straw-golden color, hazy, nice white head. Aroma: citrusy, lemon, orange, something fruity like lychee, a little spice, coriander, milky wheat, and a hint of yeast. Taste: citrusy, orange and lemon zest, a touch of tartness and yeast, fruity, spicy, a little herbal and spicy, and a rather soft hop bitterness on the finish for the style, not bad.

Clear pale light yellow beer, big creamy white head, pretty stable, a bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: floral, pretty yeasty, citrus notes, some tropical fruits, zesty, a bit of banana. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: bitter start, pretty watery, soft acidity, some citrus notes, soapy, very floral. Aftertaste: more soapy bitterness, citrus, a little hoppy, a bit watery, zesty touch in the finish. Not bad, not great.

0.33l bottle. Clear golden body with a huge and lasting white head. Belgian yeast is definitely there in the aroma with some floral notes, grass and lemon zest. Taste of sugar syrup, grapeseed, and lemon zest with some floral notes. Maybe a hint of pine too. Very nice.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 15.07.2027) im 2026-01 getrunken. Dieses dunkelbrauen Belgische Schwergewicht kommt mit schönen Aromen von Malz, etwas Toffee und ein Hauch roter Beeren. Alles Zusammen auf ein Körper der für eine längeren Abgang verantwortlich istm aber das Bier fast süffig macht. Alles sehr ausgewogen auch was die Süße angeht. Richtig tolles Winterbier!

Gekocht in de Spar van Middelkerke op 13-10-2025. En thuis samen met mijn geïnteresseerde smaakpapillen in Middelkerke maar niet aan het strand geproefd op 17-01-2026.
Tête de Mort tripel word gebrouwen door Brouwerij Du Bocq uit Purnode (België) die werd opgericht in 1858 door Martin Belot. Onder de brouwerij bevindt zich een bijzondere waterlaag van hoge kwaliteit, wat de smaak van de bieren ten goede komt. In 1967 werd de Brasserie Centrale in Marbaix La Tour overgenomen (hun Saison Regal werd later de Gauloise Ambrée) In 1983 werd de productie geconcentreerd in Purnode; de brouwerij werd grondig gemoderniseerd. In 2015 werd Du Bocq overgenomen door Brouwerij Corsendonk, waarna deze volledig eigenaar werd.
Een nieuwe bottelarij op 500 meter van de brouwerij werd in 2021 in gebruik genomen, beide werden verbonden door een ‘state of the art’ pijpleiding (“Zythoduc”) om het bier efficiënt te transporteren.
TÊTE DE MORT TRIPEL is een helder goudkleurig bier dat veel wit schuim produceert bestaande uit vooral grove bellen. Dit blijft sterk aan je glaswand kleven en is normaal stabiel, op het eind heb je nog een fijn dun laagje op je bier staan. Je ziet slechts weinig grootte CO2 belletjes omhoog parelen.
HET AROMA:
Zoetig, mout, hopbitter, floraal, grassig, kruidnagel.
DE SMAAK:
Zoetig, mout, floraal, kruidnagel.
HET MONDGEVOEL:
Medium body, zeer licht bitterdroog, romige textuur, een prikkelend koolzuurgas.
DE NASMAAK:
Zoetig, mout, kruidig. Voelt ook wat plakkerig. Het zoete en de kruidigheid vloeien wat uit.
HET TOTAALGEVOEL:
Een harmonieus bier.
HET VERDICT:
Het zoete overheerst hier toch teveel, samen met de mout geeft dat de indruk dat de verkeerde mout (pilsmout?) gebruikt is. Het drukt in alle geval andere indrukken weg.
