Big flavours and bright colours, that’s what you can expect from Vault City Brewing. We’re the UK’s biggest sour beer producer and we’ve been making fruit-forward, modern sour beers in Edinburgh since 2018.
Our mixed fermentation style and distinctive house culture create the perfect base for real fruit ingredients, which gives our beer its intense aroma and flavour, not to mention the eye-catching colours.

Keg at The Antelope, Godalming. Opaque amber. Thin foamy white head doesn't quite manage full coverage. Aroma is low key - light smoke, then delicately sour berries. Flavourwise it's sour but not overly so. There's a smokiness which kinda takes the edge off. Marmalade tang. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Interesting. Sour but smokey and somehow delicate with it.

Thick rosy-cream head over indeed pitch black beer. Black cherries, black chocolate, raspberries, chocolate icecream with strawberry/raspberry/vanilla flavours. Very lightly sourish fruitflavours, on top of black, if not very bitter chocolate. Lactose is also obvious in taste and MF. Well-filled, creamy and good carbonation. However, it feels lighter than a 6.5% stout would warrant. Oh well. Certainly not my idea of a sour whatever.

Draught @ SKAAL Sønderborg. Pours cloudy very dark brown with little dark tan head. Clear aroma of cake, caramel, and malt, with hints of yeast. Intensely sweet flavour of caramel, with touches of malt and alcohol and notes of egg liquor. Roasty and fudgey aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. So sweet that it must be every teddy bear’s favourite. Yummy but heavy. Goodnight :)
