Sample thanks to Grumbo: Poured a dark brown with reddish edges, Head was bubble. Aroma is thick chocolate and some lactose. Taste is sweet silky chocolate forward, that morphs to a more rich chocolate and roasted maltiness.

Bottle split at L6, picked up in Athens, 16/01/20. Dark mahogany brown with a decent beige cap that escapes edgeward. Nose is charr, roast malts, light coffee bean, hint of spice, dark fruit rinds. Taste comprises roasted bite, coffee, cacao nibs, ashen notes, dried fruits, charr. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light dryness in the close. Ok stout but lacking depth for the ABV allied to coffee/espresso profile … a little harsh in places.

12/4/2020. Bottle from Brew Str, Athens. Pours very dark brown with a very short lasting tan coloured head (the description didn’t lie). Aroma of milk chocolate, cocoa, dark fruits, lactose, ash, roasted malt. Medium to heavy sweetness and light roasted bitterness. Moderate body, watery texture, soft to flat carbonation. Wasn’t bad, but all the other Kykao beers I’ve had were better.

27 September 2019. Tap at RIDE Cafe, Chania, Crete. Shared with the lovely Anke! Pours hazy orange with a quicky thinning, frothy, white head. Aroma of young yellow apple, pineapple, lemon, pomegrenate, starfruit, wheat. Taste is light to medium fruity sour, starfruit & gooseberry pairing with sweetish apple & pear, a bit lemony, wheaty & bready accents; very faintly bitter in the tart, wheaty finish, lingering unripe fruit, bread & very faint hops. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Balanced summer BW indeed.
