Description
At the beginning of 2000 we founded our own beer tasting club as a group of friends. we tasted different beers, and soon our interest in beer in general and brewing in particular grew. This interest led to a brewing course and soon our first home-brewed beer followed. A delicious tripel. From then on, beers were brewed at regular intervals with trial and error. Our interest in beer turned into a real passion. From that passion we continued to develop new beers. The quality clearly increased. The choice of playing cards for our labels is also not chosen by chance. As the international capital of the playing card, Turnhout is also our birthplace. We are therefore very proud to be able to present an extensive and varied range to you. By following the increasing demand for our beers and the growing export demand, we decided to build our own brewery. Hard work was done in the spring to have the brewery operational by the summer of 2015. At the end of July we were extremely proud to be able to brew the first beer in our own kettles. In addition to a state-of-the-art brewing installation of 30HL, yeast and bearing tanks of 60Hl and 120HL and our own bottling line, we also have a cellar for the storage of barrels for barrel-aged beers.
In May 2020 a merger of Het Nest and Pirlot took place, but both breweries keep on operating independent from each other.

Bottle at LCRBM5. There were some different bottles of this beer going round but this was the only one I had. Gold, clear, virtually no head. Some peach on aroma. Itβs a bit toasty on the malts. Some hops/carbonation on finish. Not awful, but lacks a bit in depth in the malts in the middle. Brittle toast instead of solid pale malts.

Bottle (LCRBM 09): Sweet-fruity (lemons) nose with a hoppy background; golden coloured with a small, but stable white head; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, relatively light bodied for a beer of 8.5%; sweet lingering hoppy and fruity finish with a warming alcohol burn. Nice, well rounded stuff.....

Small white rime over orange-golden beer. Coriander over sweet notes, ending spicy-toned. Sweet, much less attenuated than the Hofbrouwerijke version; bananaester, alcohol obvious. Very slick, alcoholwarming; medium bodied. Not uninteresting, but I preferred the Hofbrouwerijke/Fuggles version, no doubt due to the hopgift.
