The reason Jamie Emmerson and Irene Firmat started Full Sail in the first place was to build a company that was completely different from the ones where we’d previously worked. It wasn’t about business as usual. It was about finding our calling in life — about truly appreciating our “human resources,” and balancing work, life, family and friends in a way that makes life truly worth living.
Determined to make world-class beer in our own backyard, one of our first, and perhaps best, decisions was to invest in new, state-of-the-art brewing equipment. So we bit the bullet, laid down our borrowed cash, and spent the better part of 1987 installing the new system. Our love for the environment is what drives our sustainable practices, so pure water, local ingredients and responsible processes are poured into each and every tasty pint.
Can from Whole Foods - Pearl in Portland, OR. Pours very light gold with a large creamy white head. Aroma of pale malt, but there’s a fresh aspect - likely hop - first thought was lime! Med minus body. Flavor is bready, pale malt. Not very hoppy, if at all. There is some elusive fruitiness that’s likely hop. Overall, I’ll pass until it’s taco time and nothing else is available.
Bottle from Hops & Bottles. Mimicking a Negra Modelo, without improving it. Why bother? Dark amber, malty, frothy head. Thin, weak, dissipates quickly, palate left unscathed. Poor.
Fairly unspectacular, even for a craft Mexican lager, offering up bland pale malts laced with corn and wet cardboard, backed up by barely-there floral hops and a bland sweetness on the back end. Some white bread and skunkiness on the fade add some character--for better or worse--but otherwise there's nothing here that will convince me this style's actually worth craft brewers' time.
Can. Golden beer with a cream head. Light grapefruit and light pine aroma. Grapefruit and pine flavor with light astringency. Medium bodied. Grapefruit and pine linger with light astringency.
12oz bottle picked up at the state store Pours clear light golden with a small white head, light lacing. Aroma of lime and grains. Taste is sweet malts, grains and lime Refreshing, a little too sweet
Can from Trader Joe's in Davis, CA. Pours bright gold with a white head. Aroma is caramel with a touch of evergreen. Med body or nearly. Flavor is kind of pine, not much like citrus, and there's clearly caramel support. Not strong flavors, but strong enough for this low ABV. Decent.
21st May 2018 Three Johns. Keg. Almost clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate still has decent fine minerally carbonation. Sweet malts. Touch of bubblegum esters. Very sweet candy fruits underneath. Modest orange citrus does it's best to even out the sweetness. Smooth finish. A little clunky but not hating this.
