Description
We have been brewing beer for beer lovers since 1994. The brewery was founded in the city of Bergen op Zoom (The Netherlands) which is situated at the banks of the Eastern Scheldt (Dutch: Oosterschelde). In 2008 the brewery moved to the city of Hoogstraten in Antwerp Province, just across the Belgian border with The Netherlands. There we continued to brew well balanced beers, classic Belgian with a modern touch. Many characteristics still refer to our birthplace. Our mascot the crab is also the mascot of Bergen op Zoom and the two so called ‘wild men’ are shown in the flag and coat of arms of the city since 1622. These wild men are still shown on all our labels, portraying the different beer names.
Every sip of Scheldebeer has been brewed in our own brewery, build with love and care. We are ambitious brewers who prefer craft beers with a sense of the past and a taste of the present. True to traditions but always looking for an exciting balance between nostalgic and new, modest and daring. Our beers are unfiltered, unpasteurized and have bottle refermentation. Besides from all the natural ingredients we hope you'll taste patience and devotion in all the flavours. Cheers!

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. (9.5%) Muddy amber with extremely lively head. Flowery yeasty nose. Sweet and full bodied with lively carbonation. Lightly grassy with spun sugra and some tart berries. A discrete, yet complex and aromatic beer. Interesting and tasty.

Hazy orange-brown color, small but steady white head. Berries, honey, spelt or wood and yeast in the nose. Dry, woody and organic-like feeling in the flavor. Some bitterness which fades quickly. I supposed that this is an organic beer.

Dark muddy brown, good brown cloudy head. Berry and grapes in the aroma. Crisp carbonated mouthfeel. Chocolate, berries and kandy sugar in the flavor. Very Dutch-like bock. Aftertaste is sweetish with some alcohol in it.

Amber-shot orange beer with a very good, dense, persistent off-white head. Rather aggressive initial nose, industrial washing powder, CO², white candi sugar. Fruity aroma’s, mainly citrus and amber malts. Sweet, caramelly maltcookies with preserved orange on top; caramel filling for a candy bar, ending spicey (ginger mainly, maybe Paradise seed, coriander, vanilla, clove). Alcohol tries to hide, but just doesn’t succeed - not in taste, neither in warming. Quite slick to nearly smooth, creamy texture, lightly burning MF. A bit overpowering, aggressive strong ale. Misses a bit of refinement, which is usually better at Scheldebrouwerij.

Bottle: Poured a reddish amber color with white head. Very berry fruit aroma flowed to my sences. The flavour was also berry but also had a bit of a sourish finish.

Bottled. Hazy golden colour (after pouring in the yeast), small white creamy head. Aroma is flowery hops with some caramel in it. Flavour is malts, flowery hops and some grass. Indeed a dry bitterish finish.

Bottled. Hazy golden colour with a mediumsized creamy white head. Aroma is lots of spices and berries, with a witbier touch to it. Flavour is caramel, wheat, yeast and some toffee and honey kicking in. Good balance, and clean, but at the same time quite boring.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Hazy golden, small head. Black currant aroma. Sweet with clean mouthfeel and some papery malt. Fruity and fairly light bodied. Grassy hops stay in the background, but surface towards the finish that holds medium bitterness. Yeasty orangey notes awakes as the beer warms. Flavourwise pretty good, but the clean mouthfeel is not something I’ll go crazy over.
