Description
At Moon Dog we love crafting bloody delicious beers that are fun and a little bit different. We've been doing it since 2010 at our rad brewery in the backstreets of inner Melbourne’s Abbotsford. Over the years we’ve grown a heap, adding our tropical brewery bar paradise, the ballroom oasis function space, and a freakin' big fancy production brewery to keep more delicious beers flowing. We’re a proudly independent, Australian owned craft brewery, still run by the same guys that started it all those years ago.

440ml can from the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear golden colour with a short-lived, fizzy white head. The aroma is big cucumber. The flavour is light sour, with a light, watery, cucumber, light chill spice palate. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. Fine for a hot climate, but really this is just alcoholic cucumber water, with some faint chilli spice notes. The “beer” coming out of Moon Dog these days doesn’t compare to what they used to brew.

(Can) Pours opaque amber with good white head. Nice aroma of pine and pineapple. Great mouthfeel. Full bodied and smooth with fine gentle carbonation. Nice taste too. It’s fruity with citrus and pineapple at the start with pleasant hoppy bitterness in the finish. Very enjoyable.

Pours purple-tinger amber with a fading head.Aroma pretty much replicates an apple blackberry crumble. Also some lemon zest. The blackberry is pretty strong.Flavours include more blackberry, soap-like perfumous notes, caramelised apple, vanilla, brown sugar.

Prominent plum, no sourness. Basically a juice drink not a beer

(Can) Pours cloudy amber with small white head. Pleasant aroma of fruit juice with vanilla notes. Great mouthfeel - medium body with plenty of fine bright carbonation. Unusual taste. It’s classic hoppy hazy juicy IPA but with vanilla. There’s fruity tang, spice and hops in the foretaste, quickly joined by the vanilla. A hint of sweetness in the mid palate and a hoppy bitter finish. Pleasant and unusual. I am not convinced about the addition of vanilla though. It really adds nothing more than novelty in my opinion.

Can. Clear amber with an inch of white head. Thinnish citrus aroma with some light biscuit, peach and pine. Light bodied. The aromatics are more interesting upon a swig (and the aroma then opens up too): the citrus is a little leafy and floral and the pine veers a little towards menthol and needles. Hints of mango as well as peach. Punchy bitterness at the dry end. Good.

(Can) Pours hazy amber with thin off-white head. Intense chocolate aroma. Medium body with good bright carbonation. The taste is good, complex and confusing. There’s Belgian white ale, there’s plenty of chocolate and there’s the alcohol kick of a strong Belgian beer. They are all very enjoyable. Somehow they are not integrated. It’s not that they don’t go together, because it’s very enjoyable. It’s a bit like the taste equivalent of one of those duck rabbit pictures. Very unusual and enjoyable.

(Can) Pours black with a small caramel coloured head. Good looking beer. Pleasant aroma, mostly roast nuts and grain. Lovely mouthfeel. Full bodied, smooth, slightly sticky with fine carbonation. Great taste too with quite a lot going on. Dark toffee, burnt sugar, vanilla, cake mix, bitter chocolate notes, restrained and good use of chilli, some tartness at the start. Very drinkable.

From a 440ml can on 7/7/2021. Pours a hazy medium golden with a small head. Has a muted sweet fruity nose. Tastes very sweet with some pineapple and passion fruit notes, with a very modest bitterness with a hint of tang at the back. The mouthfeel is creamy, the carbonation moderate. Not terrible, but a bit muted, uninspiring and lacking in punch.
