Description
The company Pivovara Hrvačić jdoo from Sisak was founded in 2018 with the aim of producing craft beer, as the main activity. The idea of the Old Charlie's brand, named after the four types of craft beers we produce (Pale Ale, Red Ale, Dark Ale and American Pale Ale), is the promotion of blues and jazz music.
With a lot of work and effort, our desire is to satisfy the different tastes of craft beer lovers with the quality of our products. In order to achieve that goal, we use only the highest quality raw materials for our beer. Since we have formed the recipe of our beer in a way that agrees with a certain type of food, our goal is to offer our products to restaurants, but also pubs and cafes where guests want to enjoy a glass of premium beer and good music.
Drink, eat and listen to what you love and enjoy!

Sample 0.5 l bottle. Thanks, Hrvačić. Shared with little Dina and her family. Hazy golden, small lasting off-white head. Slightly phenolic medicinal aroma. Vegetable. Beet root. Aroma is finally hoppy, citrusy, light orange, light pines. Some malts. Plastic phenols again. Soft texture, moderate carbonation. Light finish, citrus and plastic. Light to moderate bitterness. Would be a great sessionable beer once these mistakes are corrected.

Bottle, 0.5l. Cloudy deep amber pour, one finger frothy off-white head. Good retention, medium lasting, broken lacing on the glass as it goes down. Nice on the nose, caramel, floral notes, hops in the background. Medium body, medium carbonation. Soft mouthfeel and texture, goes down nicely. Bittersweet taste with subtle tart notes, slightly roasted. Aroma of roasted malt, toasted caramel, herbs and hops. Floral, mild fruity, some bready notes. Lingering bitterness on the tongue, drying. Medium lasting finish, some off-placed metallic notes. Not bad.

Bottle, thanks Hrabren! Daaaark brown ale, tiny off white head. Slightly oily roasty maltiness in the aroma, dark chocolate. Dry taste, mildly phenolic-peppery, lightly roasty, some sweetish touches. A bit soapy near the finish. As Ogi has said, has homebrew character really, needs to be improved, but shows promise.

Bottled 500ml. -from Vrutak Zagreb. Almost black coloured, medium sized pale beige head, weak chocolate and whiff of coffee in the nose. Light roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, weak coffee and touch of hops with light roasty finish. Home brew character is evident and for sure this isn't brown ale.

0.5 l bottle stolen from Klement. Thanks to the brewery. Copper colour, medium creamy off-white to beige head. Aroma is heavily malty, caramel malts, some spice, toasted bread. Slightly harsh hops. Sweetish, malty. Balance is not that bad, but some elements stand out. No alcohol felt. Smooth. Abrupt finish. Light metal in the finish.

Bottled 500ml. -from Harat's Gajeva. Darker amber coloured, small to medium sized off-white head, grainy, earthy and vegetables in the nose. Sweet malty, grainy, random caramel and something similar to boiled broccoli and sweetish finish. Nooo...

Bottle, Harat's Beer Boutique Zagreb. Murky red body, off white head. Caramel, some fruity touches in the aroma, hoppy even? Not bad. Taste.. hm... grainy, sweetish, sunflower halva, dry bitterish finish. Huh, this does actually show promise, but the base malt seems either cheap or sub par (generic Gradiška maybe?)... Still, upping the score to 3, as they have just started.
