Cask (handpump) at The White Horse Inn, Bradford-on-Tone TA4. Lovely fruit hit almost instantly supported by a big bold but not over-powering bitterness. A nicely balanced session bitter with good flavour.

Cask gravity at Kent BF 2006. So my first beer on the first evening of the 3 sessions for me at this beer festival. Copper colour with thin off white head. Sticky spicey hop and caramel aroma. Good in mouth. Hop on end is quite spicey. Good toffee. Certainly has lots of taste.

Cask handpull at Wetherspoons, Folkestone. Mahogany colour with bubbly beige head. Attractive rich malt and hop aroma. More rich dry malt in mouth. Plenty of fruit as well as some coffee. Dry long finish of dry dry malt. Very tasty and I could have easily drank a couple more pints.

Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear nut brown. Roasty malt dominates this beer from nose to finish. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. It’s very nutty with vague notes of grass and licorice. Bitter, lightly salty finish. A very likeable brown ale.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm) Colour is dark ruby to mid brown. Complex nose dominated by malt and with hints of sweet liquorice, aniseed, fennel, tobacco, nuts and even leather. Malty taste with liquorice, tobacco, nuts and and a somewhat drier bitter finish. Complex, tasty and nice.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm) Colour is pale amber to orange. Somewhat fruity nose with a lightly citrussy, hoppy aroma. The citrus is evident in the taste as well, light body with a drier hoppy, but very short, finish. Refreshing but rather thin, saved by the hops.

Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm (labelled Tawny Owl). Clear amber. Dusty vegetable aroma. Sweet and fruity with some not so pleasant flavour reminiscent of a used vacuum cleaner bag. Light to medium bodied with soft mouthfeel, some caramelly malt flavour and notes of sulphur.

Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Deep golden. Honey aroma. Medium sweet with light body and rounded mouthfeel. Notes of linginberries. An easy going blond ale that hasn’t got too much to offer.

Cask hanpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Brownish copper colour with lasting bubbly beige head. I’ve always liked Cotleigh beers and this is no exception. Good hop/malt mix on the aroma. Hops have some earthiness. Malts are juicy and full in mouth. Finish has drying hop and a bit of herb. Fruits are red berry, bit of pear and red apple. Excellent session beer.

Cask handpull at CountyHotel JDW Ashford. Dark ruby colour with lasting thin beige head. Choc/coffee nose. Smooth in mouth. Good flavour carries on with goodish finish with is just a little it short. Would have picked this as a stout rather than an old ale.
