Bottle from Morrisons. Pours a clear copper colour with a thinnish creamy off-white head. Aromas of red fruits, caramel and bread. Taste is toasty burnt bread, roasted malts, orange marmalade and a touch of chocolate. Burnt bitter finish. Medium to full body with a smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Quite a complex beer with lots of depth of flavour. Nice.

Wetherspoon Autumn Beer Festival 2018. Cask @ Barum Top Inn, Halifax. Clear copper-gold but more of the former, with a creamy head. It’s floral-malty but extremely light in both instances. Has a nice texture.

Organic and Gluten free Pilsner. Piana spora, niczym krzyz na Giewoncie, slimakowata, metnawe, brunatno-bursztynowe, zbozowe, skorka od chleba zytniego, ziarniste, troche kaszki kus-kus jakby, siemie lniane, fajne, takie lagerowe ale zarazem tresciwe i bogate w witaminki z grupy B. Polecam, o ile bedziecie mieli na tyle cierpliwosci by piana opadla.

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A chestnut pour with a tight cream head; aroma of nuts and malt; quite thin in the mouth to start, then developing a malty taste with earthy nuts and caramel.

Cask at Lych Gate, Wolverhampton Pours a golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. A somewhat bland aroma – just some vague hoppiness. Taste is predominantly oranges, with a nice balance between hops and malt. Finish is hoppy with some hints of ginger. A nice drink, but I’m not sure why it calls itself a Christmas Ale ?

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A pale amber pour with a tight cream head; malty aroma; smooth and creamy in the mouth with a nitro feel, and caramel and malt flavours; then a light bitterness with a biscuity finish. A simple straightforward bitter.

On cask at the Caley Picture House. Appearance - amber with a generous lacy head. Nose - a hint of fruitcake but of the burnt variety. Caramel too. Taste - more caramel and dry cake. Palate - close to medium bodied. Dry through middle and finish. Overall - a bit too dry.
