Tap at BPBW'19, Saturday session. ILime, mint, ginger. Not bad, but not my cup of tea.

Can. Black pour, beige head. Nose is intense coffee, chocolate, vanilla and lactose-like sweetness. Pretty pleasant, I wonder how much of it comes from the added aromas. Tastewisr it’s pretty similar to the nose, but more held back. Closes with coffee and chocolate finish, has light body and soft carbonation.

Tap @ Bøker & Børst. Black body with a small beige head. Aroma has dark malt, spices like cinnamon and something sweet like lactose or something. Flavor is quite sweet, dark malt, cinnamon, mild chili, warming alcohol and realizing that the sweet lactose from aroma might actually be cocoa. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Quite nice for a few sips but ending up a bit one dimensional strange enough considering all the ingredient. Not a bad beer at all, just missing something.

Bottle from Gulating. Hazy golden body with a small, fast disappearing white head. Aroma of pineapple where quite strong for a few seconds but very volatile and becomes more moderate like a dry hopped IPA/APA at a slightly pale malty background. Not bad really considering this being what it is a – a blond with pineapple juice. Flavor is quite malty, that is smooth pale malt with yeast and general fruitiness and a certain bitterness like the original blonde. The pineapple flavor is moderately enough to just do something extra and not make the whole thing undrinkable as a found the grapefruit edition, just too much juice and no beer. This one like it supposed to be, add something to the original beer without destroying it. Smells nice, not very exiting in flavor, but fresh enough with a pineapple addition to the original flavor. Medium to thin boded and average aftertaste, actually it feels a bit metallic harsh in the end without making a big deal out of it.

Tap @ Bakgården Både &. Unclear yellow body with a small white head. Aroma is fruity acidic and I don’t get so much more out it aroma wise. Flavor is also a bit one-dimensional with a fruity sourness dominating most of it. It’s still quite nice and refreshing but there is a big lack of complexity. The bartender actually used this as a base for a drink, just for fun and it worked out quite well.

Bottle @ Patricks, Kristiansand. Dark amber body with a small, lacing beige head. Relatively mild in aroma, dark, gentle roasted malt and quite much chocolate. Flavor is rather sweet, dark malt, mild toffee, distinct milk chocolate, light toast and moderate bitterness. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Quite smooth, very tasty and pleasant brew, perhaps closer to a brown ale than a porte, but highly enjoable.

Tap @ Både &, Kristiansand. Clear orange body with a small, lacing white head. Aroma has canned tropical fruit, peaches and hint of bread. Flavor is fruity as well, but feels a bit ripe, almost fruit syrup, some malt and medium bitterness. Medium body and OK aftertaste. Quite nice but not very exiting or original.

Can. Quite clear amber body with a moderate sized off-white head. Aroma is malty with bread, marmalade and some citric fruit and hint of dry fruit. Flavor is sweet malt, hint of caramel, bread, dry fruit, marmalade and moderate bitterness. Balanced body and mostly malty in aftertaste. Feels a bit off, miss some more lively hop flavor, BBF 20.07.19 sampled 18.03.18, might have a bit generous shelf life marking?

Bottle from Cask Christmas calendar. Clear, deep amber body with a decent beige head. A bit weak aroma of caramel, toast, anise and smoke. Flavor has caramel, some chocolate, toast, anise, hint of ginger, some smoke and low bitterness. Medium body and average aftertaste. Difficult to get what the brewery want to go with this one, it’s kind of spicy but nothing to associate with Christmas cake, the name might give association with Belgium dubbel – but it is not even close, still to much anise to make it mach any kind of Christmas food and the smoke makes it just a total mess in my palate.
