[Cask at the Globe, Moorgate, London.] Copper with a thin white head leaving good lacing; damp grain aroma; cereal flavours with some sweet malts; assertive clinging bitter finish. Pleasant enough, but nothing special.

From cask at Tennents. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is mild fruity and light malty. Flat malty flavoured with a light bitterness showing through. Yet nothing outstanding. Bitter and malty finish.

Bottled (from Alko, ABV 8.2%). Coppery amber colour with mediumsized foamy off-white head. Some lace. Aroma is hops, raisins, some slight red sour berries as well as some mild notes of alcohol. A bit doughy notes as well. Flavour is quite strange. Strong grassy hops dominating the background, while alcohol, some really sweet nectary/sappy mess is up front. A bit toffeeish notes as well while drinking. Alcohol gives a nice burning touch to the grassy and hoppy notes. Aftertaste has alcohol, nettles, toffee and some grass. A bit like a sweet barley wine meeting a standard dry grassy bitter.

(Bottled 500ml, ABV 8.2 %, BB 09/2009). Clear amber color, small white head. Toffeish buttery-diacetylic nose, almost like in some East European PET-bottle lagers. Flavor has toffee sweetness, alcohol, some harsh bitterness in the finish. A bit thin palate. I prefer a good English Strong Pale Ale instead of Russian malt liquer. I didn’t get it.

Cask handpull at Penderal’s Oak, JDW, London. Gold with thin bubbly white head. It’s a golden bitter with decent citrus finish. Really quite drying on the finish, more than most bitters. Bit of yeast. Good lemony finish

Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. A golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is lovely flowery, while the flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of flawors as well as light notes of peaches and perfume, leading to a dry bitter finish.

275ml bottle @ 7.1% ABV. Pale amber beer with aroma of caramel. Flavour is very sweet with toffee prominent. This is to the point of being overpowering and a half pint was enough. An interesting, unusual beer though.

"Soon you’ll know why folks all say ... beer at home means Davenports" OK, so I’m old enough to remember the TV advert from the 1960’s, but that doesn’t mean I’ve ever drank it before.
A pleasant surprise; a light golden colour, long-lasting white head; malty taste and a long-lasting restrained bitter finish. Not complex, but straightforwardly good.
