Description
The first real malting statute was confirmed by the municipal council of Iglau, as the town of Jihlava was called till 1948, in 1579. In 1859, all 123 owners of brewing rights in the town and surrounding villages joined in a new brewery, the present Jihlava Brewery. The brewery in Jihlava was opened in 1861, but the brewery considers the year 1860 as the year of its incorporation. From its incorporation the brewery had mainly German owners. After WWII it was nationalised and then privatised in 1995. In 2008 the almost bankrupt brewery was bought by the Pivovary Lobkowicz group. Under the new owners the brewery returned to the production of beer according to old original recipes.

Bottle. It pours a clear, golden body under a dense, two finger off-white head. Very malty aroma with honey and some flowers. Fruity too, both in the nose and in the mouth. Honey, pale malts, some bitterness and flowers. Medium body, pleasant carbonation. Fruity, malty and sweet finish. Quite interesting this one, but nothing more. 141114

Big offwhite head. Clear amber body with carbonation. Grainy toffee syrup aroma with strawy herbal notes. Dry-sweet grainy mealy fruity taste with toffee and grass notes. Fullish body. Slightly hot mouthfeel. Dryish grainy grassy honey aftertaste with spicy meaty notes. Nice, a bit dense, but still drinkable. Could do without the meaty flavours. (0.5l bottle, from wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

Točené(@Zlý Časý v Praze): Unclear, golden coloured with a stable & lacy white head; distinctive "peppery" Saazy traces in the mild bitter-malty nose; moderate dryish bitter and slightly sweet flavour, soft and light bodied - without being watery; lingering dryish Saazy and pale-malty finish. Good, good…
