Description
The first real malting statute was confirmed by the municipal council of Iglau, as the town of Jihlava was called till 1948, in 1579. In 1859, all 123 owners of brewing rights in the town and surrounding villages joined in a new brewery, the present Jihlava Brewery. The brewery in Jihlava was opened in 1861, but the brewery considers the year 1860 as the year of its incorporation. From its incorporation the brewery had mainly German owners. After WWII it was nationalised and then privatised in 1995. In 2008 the almost bankrupt brewery was bought by the Pivovary Lobkowicz group. Under the new owners the brewery returned to the production of beer according to old original recipes.

500ml bottle from premium Czech beers online. Pours clear gold, long lasting thin white head. Aromas of cereal, light herbs and light metallic notes. Taste is light bitter, perhaps a hint of citrus. Grainy finish. Decent.

500ml bottle from Premium Czech Beers online. Pours clear gold, thin white head. Thought this had a massive green vegetable nose, then realised that was me, I’d just been picking courgettes in the garden. Washed my hands. Aromas are actually light honey and herbal hops. Taste is more honeyed sweetness, light corn. Slightly cloying finish. Ok.

Bottle. Overall hoppier than your standard industrial czech lager. However the hoppiness feels slightly stale and overall is far below premium flavour. Drinkable, chilled enough might even be somewhat tasty. Acceptable.
