10 oz draft champagne flute at the Long Beach Beer Lab in Long Beach, California. Version I had was listed at ABV 2.8%, though description matches others notes. The pour is hazed pinkish golden, with a ½ inch whitish pink head. The aroma is raspberry tart fruit, a bit of sourdough bread and lemon citrus. The taste is the raspberry fruit sweet and tartness, sourdough follows that along with a bit of lactic in the back joined by some dirtiness. The palate is light to thin bodied with fine carbonation and fruit in the finish. Interesting.

A deep dark brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet chocolate with vanilla, light acidity, pleasant and sweet. In mouth, a sweet fruity chocolate malt with light acidity, light cherry, vanilla and dark fruits, very nice. On tap at City Beer Store.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 22 Aug 2018) Pinkish red colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, slightly sourish nose with notes of cherries, white bread and almonds. Fruity, tart taste with cherries, cranberries, raspberries and bread. Thin body, with a slight sweetness. Hardly any bitterness. Odd and interesting, but refreshing. Quite enjoyable.

This beer is astonishingly not like kvass. It has no bread character or mouthfeel, bread sweetness etc. Everything that makes kvass, kvass seems to be absent in this beer, it almost feels as if they did not use bread at all, I can overlook the definitely less common addition of cherry but I cannot overlook the rest. This tastes in every way like a bit lesser low ABV USA sour and as such it is quite fair especially keeping the ABV in mind but going by style this is a train wreck. Now having gotten that out of the way, appearance was the first sign of how un-kvass this was, weird pink orange, vaguely almost pinkish-head. Nose is dirty water & some rotting fruit sourness with a sweet candy fruit quality, cherry lemonade with vague sour & dirty lemon, taste is the same dirty water sourness with vague almost lemonade-like sweetness, problematic but fair for the ABV sour. Enjoyed draft glass @ BeerTemple.
