12 oz. can purchased at Molly's Spirits in Lakeside, CO. Thanks G-unit! Pours a clear very dark garnet color with a small beige head and poor retention. xxxx lacing. More vanilla aroma than anything else. The flavor is more chocolate than vanilla, with a charred malts finish. Low carbonation. Really easy drinking. the 7.5% ABV is well hidden. Not quite as flavorful as I hoped, but still very good.

Can. Deep opaque brown. Frothy tan head, diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, nuts, coffee, vanilla. Hints of dried fruit and bread. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. A sweet beer with enough balance to keep it from being cloying, just barely. Taste of roast, bread, nuts, vanilla, chocolate. An over-the-top dunkel (?) as one assumes it was meant to be.

Can - lightly hazy gold - overly sweet and unclean, with a lot of vegetal corn notes, some poorly-utilized, skunky European hop character - big disappointment, especially considering how respected this brewer seems to be locally.

Taster on tap at The Barrel in Estes Park. Pours black, with a small, tan head. The aroma is mild coffee, bitter chocolate, plums, dirt, and walnuts. Sweet, with a mild, acrid bitterness. Medium body, with a chalky, syrupy mouthfeel. This is a mellow, yeasty, and roasty dunkel. Nice.
