Description
Brewery Vandenbroek is a small family brewery. Craft and trust in nature are our driving forces. The brewery-housing and brewery equipment are fully self-designed and self-built as a lambic brewery. We have two brass woodfired coppers, a traditional cooling tun where -after hours of cooking- the wort will cool the night over and a beer cellar filled with oak barrels.
This creates the base for some very special beers. The brewing process is based on pure manual labor with a minimum of machines. That’s why we call our beers handcrafted. The fermentation and ripening of our beers are all natural, without any artificial cooling, just as in the old times. As a result, the seasons clearly influence the taste. We believe that high quality does not necessarily mean constant quality. Plan to be surprised. Cheers!

Taste: Moderate to over moderate tart, fruity unripe apricot, apricot skin, citrus and grape hints, oak wood, tannins, horseblanket funky notes. Dry to very fry and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Bottled 1/2018. Slight gusher. Dark reddish brown, plenty of fluffy off-white head. Smell is sour, woody, some sweetness. Dry mouthfeel, after the first pucker kick pretty soft. Taste is pretty bitter in an oaky way, sour, dry. Some raisin, cherry. Nice!

Taste: Light to moderate tart, very light bitterness, old hop, very smooth wheat malt base, fruity notes of quince and citrus. Funky notes, some horseblanket, oak wood notes. Medium body, low carbonation. Very well balanced. Very nice, as expected from Toon vandenBroek.

75cl bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Jan 22. Thanks Simon for this. Pours with a hazed reddish appearance, sparse white head. Mild funky acetic nose. Not massively fruity to taste, some mild plumminess but seems a bit subdued, or watered down even. Some soft funky nuances, but lacks life overall.

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Bit hazy amber with small white head. Deep cellar funk, malty, light herbal, peach yoghurt, some bitter oak and thyme. Not honey as such but this blend is quite soft and has some resudual sweetness. Solid medium bodied, soft carbonation.

Excellent. Incredibly earthy with a hefty, lingering oakiness. Similar to classic Belgian geuze in taste, though noticably unique as well. Dutch and delicious.
