Description
The company was founded by Alastair Hook in 1999. He started the brewery in a small lock-up on an industrial estate, before moving to the Greenwich Brewery, and then to a site on nearby Blackwall Lane in 2010. It was purchased by SABMiller in May 2015. As part of the agreements made with regulators before Anheuser-Busch InBev was allowed to acquire SABMiller in 2016, Meantime was sold to Asahi Breweries of Japan in October 2016. Brewing moved to Fuller's in May 2024.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear, pilsener golden with a small, white head. Fresh, hoppy nose. Medium-bodied with a lightly sweet malt base and a dry, hoppy finish leaving quite some bitterness. A solid German style pilsener, but nothing out of the extraordinary. 240606

Clear golden to orange color once the sediment settles to the bottom. Nice long lasting white head. Aroma has an appealing hop spice and orange-ish smell. Interesting taste. Sweet malts combine to even out the initially bitter grapefruit hop flavor. Then midway the taste turns more orange in flavor. The body is medium and the finish is mild. It leaves a slight malt and sweet orange taste. Really nice IPA.

On tap at the Market Porter. I played a game with myself trying to guess who might of had this and I got the 3 previous tasters absolutely right. Smug or what? That was until Joeh had it before I could rate it. Gold with thin white head. Better than most straight forward lagers with attractive citrus aroma. Bit of vomit flavour in mouth with nice citric/lemon/lime bit on end. Not bad

A very dark brown beer with a thick dark brown head. The aroma is sweet with nice notes of chocolate with lots of cocoa in it. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of good dark chocolate combined with drying notes of ground cocoa beans, and notes of hard roasted malt giving hints of coffee towards the end. The end is dry and bitter and the notes of chocolate lingers for a long time. If You like chocolate beers, this is right up there with the best.

A pitch black beer with a slight reddish shine when held against a light source, witha dense brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of both coffee and chocolate - with the bitterness that both both bring. The flavor is sweet yet bitter - the bitterness coming from the coffee, which also lends notes of chocolate - dark bitter desert chocolate, more than coming from the hops and the dark roasted malt. But the flavor also has notes of roasted malt and rye bread. The bitterness makes the end dry, and the coffee notes lingers for a long time. Nice.
