Description
Brew Age is a young and innovative company taking old brewing traditions and developing them further. The newly created beers and beer styles are then to offer new impressions and flavours to the beer expert and the beer newbie alike.
We went through various scenarios in our heads: our own brewery vs. gypsy brewing, establishing a brand and, most importantly, developing recipes. Finally we settled on the concept of gypsy brewing. Following an intense search for a partner brewery, we finally managed to start our cooperation with Reinhold Barta at Brauhaus Gusswerk. Today, we still brew our beers at Gusswerk, and in a way you can call us sedentary gypsy brewers: in contrast to classic gypsy brewers, who produce their beer (or have it produced) at various breweries, we brew our beers almost exclusively at Gusswerk, strictly according to our own specifications. For the near future, we are planning to build our own brewery in Vienna.

Bottle from Grand Cru, Vienna. Golden, slightly hazy body, with a big, frothy, white head. Aroma mainly of elder, also some citrus, flowers, grains, grass. Taste with about the same aromas, but with less elder and some herbs. Mouthfeel is light, slick, with a moderate carbonation and it finishes grainy, with some herbs and elder. Not bad, but overall nothing special. Like a (good) Pale Lager with additional elder aroma. Refreshing, easy to drink and with a sessionable ABV, decent summer beer.

Bottle bought at Craft Bier Fest Wien. Clear, copper body, with a big, creamy, frothy, white head, that moderatly sticks to the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, grains, bread, caramel. Taste with the same aromas, also some honey like sweetness and some herbs. Mouthfeel is medium to light, slick, with a lively carbonation and it finishes medium bitter, roasty, with grains and herbs. Overall a well balanced, refreshing and down-to-earth Lager, with a full, grainy aroma. Strangely enough, one of the few tasty Vienna style lagers from Vienna.

Bottle bought at Craft Bier Fest Wien. Amber, slightly hazy body, with a medium, frothy, white head. Very fruity aroma of mango, citrus, red fruits, passion fruit, apricot, orange. Taste with about the same fruity aromas, but maybe not that complex and with the citrus more dominant, also grass and some biscuit malt backbone. Mouthfeel is medium, slick, with a moderate carbonation and it finishes smooth, medium bitter, with citric and grassy notes. Very good! Propably one of the best APAs from Austria at the moment, with a complex, fruity hop profile. Maybe the malt backbone is a bit flat, but overall a really tasty, refreshing beer.

Draught at Craft Bier Fest Wien. Black body, with a massive, frothy, tan head. Aroma of hemp, coffee, chocolate, citrus, tangerine, mango. Tastes of dark chocolate, coffee, hemp, citrus, tangerine, pine, candy, some herbs. Mouthfeel is medium, creamy, with a moderate carbonation and it finishes roasty, bitter, with coffee, cocoa, citrus and grass. Very good! Especially the hemp notes are interesting. Maybe the fruit notes are a bit too light, but overall a well balanced and complex Black IPA with a good drinkability.
