Description
Baeren Brewery is located in Morioka, Iwate prefecture which belongs in far north up from Tokyo Japan. We have some traditional and old vintage brewing equipment from southern district of Germany and carried here into Morioka. The traditional way of beer brewing still lives on here and Mr. Miyaki who got certificated as a Brewmeister in Berlin, Germany makes great and beautiful beers. The location of our brewery is perfect also for hiking because it is located near the center of the city and stands just by Route 4 but at the same time surrounded by a forest, which means you can easily and naturally feel the nature around.

bottle, mail order from the brewery. Clear, bright golden color with a thick, fine head. Nose is bread and crackers, very nice malt and light, herbal hops. Flavor is bready and rich, herbal, bitter hops (seem fresh) with light fruit. Body is quite full but crisp and bright. Pretty great stuff.

Bottle from the brewery. Hazy orange-brown with a tall, fine head. Nose is caramel, cocoa, dark bread and some orange and grass notes. Flavor is bready, rich and slightly sweet, light roast, toast, caramel and chocolate. Creamy and full, rather silky body is nicer than the filtered. Nice enough but not super exciting.

Bottle from the brewery, mail order set. Very dark brown with a tall, fine tan head. Nutty malt nose, chocolate, caramel, bread. Very rich, with light fruity esters. Rich malt flavor, caramel, nuts, toast, dark chocolate. Not sweet, but bready. Finish of cocoa, rye bread toasted, light herbal and citrusy hops. Well done. Highly drinkable.

Bottle, mail order from the brewery. Definitely looks cloudy when pouring. A bit darker than the filtered version. Rich, nutty nose. The difference is on the palate and in the body. Much richer body, fuller, and a deeper, richer malt flavor as well. Much better than the filtered version. Bitterer too.

Baeren Filtered Session IPA 4.5%

Matte gold with wispy white foam and a zesty sweet tart aroma. Medium bodied and semi-dry. This comes off as quite sweet and tangy. Doesn’t feel as well integrated as the unfiltered.

Baeren Dry Kabosu Radler 2.5%

Matte gold with an incredibly bright summery aroma. Minty pine and sweet citrus in the nose. Light bone dry body and a flavor of mint, citrus and fresh grains.

Great, honestly to me one of the best radler I’ve had as it isn’t just syrupy sweet.

Baeren Unfiltered Session IPA

Orange gold color with not much foam. It had a bright grassy hop profile and a light body that was easy to drink but didn’t make that strong an impression at the end of our tasting last night.

Bottle, mail order from the brewery. Deep, dark amber, almost brown, really. Looks like a dunkel. Nutty, toasty nose with cocoa. Flavor is toast, walnuts, cocoa, caramel. Body is light to medium. Flavor is malty but finishes dry. Not a lot of hop standing out. Really well balanced but kind of lacks uniqueness.

Bottle, mail order from the brewery. Hazy, medium golden-orange with a tall, foamy head. Lemony, woodsy aroma with honey malts, bread and biscuits. Rather mild Sorachi aspect, which is good. None of the butter notes. Lemony, creamy, herbal, oaky. Rich bready malt. Nice grain notes. Very clean fermentation and tasty malt. The Sorachi Ace has also been used well. It's hop I dislike when overdone, but this is really nice.
