Bottle. Pours hazy pale gold with a small white head. Aroma and taste of lager, light malts, rice. Concur this is not a pilsner.

Bottle at the Japanese market in Ic; pours clear gold with white head. Aroma is cheap lager, grainy, rice. Taste is basically pretty similar to Japanese rice lagers. Not much pils happening here.

Bottle. Very pale watery yellow colour with small white head. Aroma is quite faint, not much there, but equally nothing objectionable. Slight graininess and bit of citrus. Taste is similar. There is a hint of flavour but it fades quite quickly. Slight sweetness, bit of citrus and a little bit creamy. Fades into a kind of lemonade taste. Nothing nasty about it, in fact nothing much about it at all. Medium carbonation makes it a little bit spritzy but otherwise quite thin.

Bottle at home. Amber coloured with cream coloured fluffy head. Aroma is golden ale like, some fruitiness, lightly hoppy, slightly perfumey, malty. Taste is nice. Nothing shocking, light fruitiness, berries, light caramel maltiness, little bit of citrus in there. Pretty easy to drink.

Curry-Ya, NYC bottle: pours hazy brownish yellow with a white head. Aroma is light fruitiness and yeast... not quite banana and clove like a real one. Taste is somewhat spicy... a weird taste of the booze. Very light. Not super interesting.

From tap at Setagaya Summer Festival 2015. Poured into a paper cup - with a massive head that just refuses to settle down. Finally I get through the foam and see some hazy amber colour. Aroma is mostly soap water, also some malts but not much else. Taste is bitterish, bit of fruits, somewhat messy but still drinkable. I guess this is your average Japanese ji-biiru nothing more, nothing less.

Japanese Brewery 148. Bottle from World Beer Market as Kawaba Red Ale served in a pint glass. It pours a nice amber brown with a light beige head. My first whiff gave me fruity notes while a deeper inhalation brought forth caramel and figs. Med-thin bodied with a tongue scraping mouthfeel. The taste is caramel & candied figs but it finishes on a harsh medicinal bitterness. Shame as the nose was quite promising.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with small foamy off-white head, faint caramel aroma, high carbonation, thin body, watery caramel taste, abrupt finish. Feels quite weak.
