Bottle @ home. Burnt orange / brown appearance with a tan head. Oxidized, brown sugar / caramel / toffee, herbal nose. Fairly papery. Moderate high sweetness. Moderate low bitterness. More oxidation / paper / cardboard in the mouth. Not that well balanced. Just a bunch of caramel. Pass.

Tap at the Old Toad. PRetty golden color, hazy, with lace. Huge hop nose, Nelson Sauvin, catpiss, grapefruit and zest, and grapes. Huge bitterness follows huge sweetness. A bit crazy but great stuff.

Draught at the brewpub. Orange-amber with lace. Big vanilla nose, fruity, some pumpkin. A bit spicy, but not much. Vanilla is all over the place here, which was fun in a taster but there would be no way I could drink a pint. Pumpkin kind of gets lost.

Draught at the brewpub. Pale golden color, a bit cloudy, with lace. Fruity, earthy nose, a bit funky. Apricot, apple, pineapple. Sweet citrus flavor (rosehips?), tangy, spicy, herbs are not overdone. Good.

Draught at the brewpub. Roasty, coffee nose, wood, rather stout-like roastiness. Dark brown and lacy. Light body. Very roasty, with coffee. Decent and easy drinking.

Draught at the brewpub. Dark amber color, cloudy, with a fine head. Nose of chocolate and caramel. Sweet flavor of caramel, chocolate, fruits. A bit weird, with strange sweet fruitiness and esters. Doesn’t work for me.

Draught at the brewpub. Amber, with a fine, thick head. Nose of tropical fruit, grapefruit, nice but a bit faint. Sweet, piny and tropical flavors. Rather full body. More flavorful than the Can. Lake Ale, but somehow that one seemed better put together.

Draught at the brewpub. Pale golden color, lacy. Grassy, citrus hop nose. Flavors of biscuit malt, decent hops, lemon, grass, nicely balanced. A nice drinking beer, very fresh and clean. Good.

12oz bottle from Orchard Fresh, Orchard Park, NY. A slightly hazy amber pour with a ring of cream head; the aroma is a blend of tropical fruit and young birch wood; lots of fresh, green, assertive hops in the mouth; and a strongly bitter dry herbal finish. A rather good IPA.
