Clear light amber body with a well laced white head. Nose is a soft mix of tropical fruit and sweet biscuit malt. Less going on than anticipated. mango, kiwi and melon with a touch of fruit rind. Definitely understated for a Stone IPA.

A nicely blended and executed IS. The nose features dark chocolate, roasted coffee and a touch of spice. The taste expands on those spices, with cinnamon and nutmeg holding their own with dark chocolate, roasted coffee and roasted caramel malt. A nice cream element keeps it smooth. A solid IS density and a rich semi-slick mouth feel add to a nice quaff.

A solid, well laced off-white head on a copper body. The nose is fresh and pungent, featuring grapefruit and orange zest. Really juicy fresh fruit notes from the hops lead the taste profile. Not as heavy handed as most Stone ales. Tropical fruit including kiwi as well as melons, grapefruit and lemon are supported by sweet bready malt. The mouth feel is slick but not sticky. Fresh, refreshing, clean and crisp.

If I hadn’t just had a Firestone Walker Wookey Jack Imperial Black Rye IPA, I might have rated this even higher! A nice dense rindy hop and roasted malt nose. The taste profile features a heady grassy, fruit rind and pine hop signature backed by a well roasted, almost blackened malt. a touch of coffee and chocolate lurk in the background. Maybe the best of the Stone 4-imperial anniversary box set

A very engaging nose featuring lemon, mint, orange and caramel malt. A well laced white head on a rich, dense caramel body. Could be called a BW/DIPA hybrid, this is a nice combo of varied fruit tastes, sweet elements and nice rich body. Stone fruit, toffee, big orange rind and zest, and generally fruity hops work well with dense sweet malt. The fruit elements are fresh and punchy, balanced by toffee and butterscotch, nice light effervescence, and a dense slick mouth feel. Nice job!

Not a home run for a Stone double. A well laced white had on a clear light amber body. Nose features malt, dank and fruity hops. Hops are a nice mix of grapefruit, floral and semi-astringent earthy tones, but not as juicy and fresh as some Stone products. The malt is chewy, caramel and biscuit. A touch of pepper in there somewhere. A nice mid-density body and mid to low carbonation. Meh.

From this get go, this is a kinder, gentler Stone machine gun hand. The nose is unusually understated for a Stone Imperial - light citrus, tropical fruit and bready malt. The taste is a more subtle mix of hops and certainly less astringent than some more recent gems - tropical fruit, melon, light citrus elements - a much happier face on the potential of hops than usual. The malt is biscuit and caramel, but not as dark and roasted as the Ruination or Ruin Ten. Smooth blending and very tasty.

An active white head on an appealing light caramel body. The nose lets you know this is a Stone of a different colour. An earthy, grassy bitterness blends with a sweet malt. The taste follows through on the nose in spades. Astringent grassy and earthy hops, pine, cedar, pepper, warming booze and sweet chewy malt are significant under tastes. Tougher to navigate that the typical fruit forward IIPA hop bomb. A punchy and biting variation, but I can’t say it is one of my favourite big Stone products.

A gnarly grapefruit nose with sweet, dark, chewy malts. As promised, the taste profile leads with fresh citrus hops - grapefruit and orange. Dense, chewy caramel malts, honey and berries add to the balance. Nice clean finish. Well crafted.

A fluffy white head with persistent lacing over a straw coloured body. A rich nose features spices, saison yeast, lemon and malt. This is a hybrid that works! Eucalyptus, nutmeg, cloves, lemon, pepper and orange rind hops come at you from all directions. Some sweet malt and saison yeast work with significant effervescence and a rich smooth body to add to the taste experience. A work of art.
