Description
Founded by Greg Koch and Steve Wagner, Stone Brewing has come a long way since opening in San Diego County in 1996. Now the ninth-largest craft brewer in the U.S., we operate brewing facilities on both coasts – Escondido, California and Richmond, Virginia. On top of making badass beers for over two decades, we operate restaurants and tap rooms across three continents as well as the largest craft-centric beer distribution business in the U.S. Our beers are available in all 50 states and more than 40 countries worldwide.
Stone Brewing was bought in 2022 by Sapporo Brewing (Japan) and in 2026 by Duvel Moortgat (Belgium).

Pint can pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a nice tight tan head of foam. The aroma offers up figs and plums as well as a bit of roasted malt followed by subtle boozy barrel treatment character. The taste delivers fairly slick sweetness that's molasses blended with a bit of plum and date like sweet fruity esters. To midway a boozy sort of oak like spiciness leads to a whiskey sensation heading into the finish. Nice winter warmer.

Pours dark brown, almost black with soft light brown head. Chocolate and some caramel in aroma, but richer in flavour, that ads some malty sweatness, vanilla, stone fruit, and bitterness. Medium to full body, with good malty and bitter (almost too bitter) aftertaste. Was great with mature cheese.

12oz can. Poured a clear golden color with a small off-white head. Aroma was big resin, lemon, grapefruit. Big floral bouquet in this one. Resin, like you'd expect to find in a Stone beer. Sweet, with a big malt backbone.

On tap at Stone Escondido, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has cocoa, pomegranate, and light citrus. Flavour is fairly dry, with citrus, light pomegranate, and a touch of cocoa. Light-bodied, with little complexity. It’s okay.

On tap at Stone Escondido, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of fresh mint, followed by cocoa, roasted malt. Flavour is full of bright mint, moderate bitterness, dry cocoa, and medium rise. The mint somehow works wonderfully. Damn. Excellent.
