Bottle at the airport. Nice enough, roasty, cola, lots of grain, little bitterness, bit burnt in a nice way. Schwarz like but pleasant.

Bottle at the airport. Grainy, flour, bit sweet, low excitement. Bland but not offensive. Not crisp enough.

Tap @ BeerFes Yokohama, September 17th, 2017. Pours clear golden with a thin white film that does not stay. Light sweetish biscuity nose, fresh but not very hoppy. Taste has light sweetness, gentle touch of noble hops. Quite drinkable and nice pilsner, served in a good conditiin. Quaffable although not that interesting.

Bottle from Shin-Chitose Airport. Light caramel nose, minerals, earth hops, light spice. Rather pale copper colored, clear, with lace. Malty, caramel, earthy, minerals. Rather thin, low carbonation. Not much happening here. Bland and lame.

Can from Chitose airport. Pours a clear gold with a nice white head that hangs around for bit. Nose is grain and some ripe fruit left on the vine with a hint of pepper. Taste is light and crackery with a nice crispness. Not watery at all. Nice body. Peppery finish that lingers. Not bad. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pirkawakka Pilsner on 06 Aug 2015 at 19:24 - Score: 6

Bottle from Isetan’s Holkaido Fair served in a Weizen glass. A cloudy gold with s thick head of foam that lingers leaving soapy lacing in it’s wake. A rich spicy wheat aroma with a silky mouthfeel. Subdued flavor with crackery malts and light spiciness. Average but fine for all that.

Pilsner 5% Bottle from Isetan served in a pilsner glass. Pouring a brilliant gold with a foamy short-lasting head. The nose is bready sour with light earthy hop caracter upon opening the bottle. Light bodied with a slightly undercarbed mouthfeel & semi-dry finish. The taste is alright earthy herbal hoppiness, grassy, light crackery malts. It grew on me though the nose wasn’t so appealing.

Bottle at Chitose airport. Golden Yellow color, cloudy. Small lacy head. Not so fragrant aroma of malts and a bit of fruit and vegetable. A touch sour. Tastes like there is a rather low percentage of wheat. Strong barley malt flavor, with wheat. A bit sweet, buttery, apples, well-hopped for a weizen. Good fruity roundness from the yeast. Long lasting dry hop finish. Like a pilsner that has gotten a splash of wheat in it. Interesting and decent. Not a straightforward weizen at all, but I like it, though it is not mind-blowing.

Bottle from Chitose airport. Dark amber verging on a dark brown color. Think and translucent, though, with orange tint. Tall, large bubbled head. Slightly sweet, amber malt aroma, some chocolate and caramel, a touch of dark fruits. Overall the aroma is faint. Mildly roasted amber malt flavor, not very rich. Slightly earthy, with caramel and a touch of chocolate. Quite strong hops. Decent fruitiness and a bit sweet, but overall dry. Very hoppy, slightly roasted finish. Dry and long-lasting with a bit of sweet, fruity warmth. Relatively light in body and carbonation. Very nice, strong hops a plus.
