Houten Paard 1, Ieper, 8900, Belgium
Description

At Mrk’s. Bottle courtesy of Mrk. Hazy golden with crap floating around. Sweet sugary and soapy with lemon and coriander leaves, light goat cheese. Medium sweet. Dusty finish. Thin body, low carbonation. Okay.

Bottle shared thanks to Mrk. Very hazy golden with short lasting but initially quite big white head. Lots of spices with coriander, cloves, light pepper. Sweet malts, corn, light dry oats, lemon peel, with a light milky touch. Medium sweet and light bitter. Medium bodied with creamy feel.

Bottle. This is shamelessly trying to pass it self off as Grottenbier brewed by the peerless St Bernadus. Nose is yeast, brown sugar, non-existent. Taste is stale, yeast, water, hint of cola. slightly nutty. Terrible, terrible beer hanging off others coat tails. I’m baffled by the relatively good reviews below.

Bottle. A dense, finger-thick beige head forms over an unclear light brown body. The aroma has a bit too much banana and bubblegum, Toffee and some bread. It’s full-bodied with a faint warmth, a decent carbonation and quite dry even though there’s a light sugary touch in the flavor. Hints of dried fruits, some toffee and bread. Decent bitterness. Long finish. Not a favorite of mine this one, but there’s sure good intentions going on here. 160402

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at tiong’s tasting, thanks VastActiv, 20160109) The beer poured dark brown and nearly clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, yeast and caramel. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, yeast, caramel, grass and bitternes. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A nice Belgian brew in which the flavours were n’t too much hiding each other.
