Well guys, we just make beer. That’s it.

The public space at Brassneck, i.e. the Growler Shop & Tasting Room are designed to have you, our customers feel as though you are part of our process. The brew house & cellar wrap around the tasting room & growler shop putting you in the very heart of the Brewery.

We have a special type of liquor license. A Brewery Lounge. Patrons do not have to be seated as in many other Food Primary locations in Vancouver. This combined with our communal tables makes for a pleasant social environment.

We have a really tiny 10 Hec system, with an even smaller Nano system for batches of around 4 Hecs.

Even though our system is small, we have lots of different fermenters. 14 in total (including a beautiful oak fermenter called a Foudre). This allows us to brew lots of different beers on a constantly rotating basis.

We are ALWAYS experimenting with different beer styles. We are three & a half years old & we’ve already brewed about 120 different beers. From Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts to Corn Lagers, Sour beers to English Milds, Brett Primary Fermented Wheat Ales to Traditional Saisons, the scope of beer styles is endless & we intend to cover them all!

Our beer comes to you direct from the conditioning tanks in our cellar & sells out quickly, so it’s always fresh.

Conrad Gmoser is our Head Brewer & partner, aided by Jeff Leake & Scott Wannop.

We’re always evolving so get ready for more great beers as time goes by & we expand production & have greater capacity for experimentation.

Dark brown, aroma is a bit nutty and a hint if choc. Dry, full-flavoured, nutty and a touch chocolatey. Good complexity...dry hoppy finish but lots if body as well.

Dark amber, bright, not a lot of head, light fruitiness on the nose, sweetish, restrained fruitiness, has a good sweet and slightly toasty malt balance.

Med brown, aroma has a lot of toasty, chocolatey malts and grapefruity hops. Dry, hoppy, grapefruit juice and chocolate. Good balance, and complexity.

Dark brown, aroma has smoke and chocolate. Medium body...smoky, tarry and relatively dry. Good balance, quite drinkable.

Muddy-looking, tan. Aroma is a wall of banana. The taste has some grainy elements...I can’t pinpoint anything. A touch of tartness. Ok wheat, as an amber wheat.

Barn Burner Black Saison from Brassneck Brewery

Med brown, not much head, lightly spicy and appley aroma. Thinnish spent grain character. Light spice/yeast and neither sweetness nor hops to balance it out. I’m always skeptical of this concept and with good reason. It’s just not a good idea and too often it falls flat.

Very cloudy, thin head, creamy wheat beer, sweet with banana Runts (so artificial banana), touch of hop late. Pretty good wheat. Good spring beer, I would think.

Dark brown, has a malted milk, coffee and strong, boozy bourbon character. Very sweet, molassesy character with vanilla, and a big boozy finish. Pour over ice cream?

One Trick Pony - Amarillo from Brassneck Brewery

473mL growler, pours a cloudy blonde with a small white head. Nose brings out lots of piney hops, some resin, and a crisp zesty biscuity malt backing. Flavour brings out floral and piney hops, with a lot of candied sweetness as the residual flavour on the finish. At first it seems like it's going to be a dry, crisp IIPA, how I love it, but then the sweetness kicks in a little more than I care for. Like the Simcoe version, this has a tad too much sweetness. Maybe they can tweak the recipe to get rid of this and make it dryer and crisper. Anywho, still a good one.

Muddy light tan, not a lot of head. Fresh, lemony, orangey galaxy aroma. Very orangey taste, sweet up front, bitterness late...a bit too much muddy yeast character but otherwise really nice stuff.
