We’re passionate about producing high-quality beers which are not only flavourful and aesthetically pleasing but also suitable for anyone who is interested in trying good quality craft beer. We've spent years refining and progressing our recipes to keep up with people’s ever-changing taste.
We were founded in 2011 by Peter Hills and Jon Swain in a couple of railway arches in Haggerston, Hackney.
Over the years we’ve invested in state-of-the-art lab equipment, new machinery and we strive to continuously improve our processes and work to get the best out of our ingredients.
Now with a focus on Keg and Can formats with modern and US hop forward styles, we provide a complete core range of crafted styles from Session-able table beers, hop forward pales and IPA’s, hazy juice bombs, a multi award winning peach and basil sour and crystal clear craft lager.
In 2021 we opened our new site on the Blackhorse Beer Mile, High Hill Taproom, home to Hackney Brewery.

Cask at Union Tavern. It pours clear amber with a small bubbly head. The nose is toasty, earth, grain and light spice. The taste is earth, leafy, grapefruit, pithy lemon, wood, mild astringency and grain with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Easy going stuff, but not a whole lot going on. OK at best.

Draft at Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2013 - London. Pours dark brown with a creamy white head. The aroma holds toast, burnt meat, torched leaves and tobacco. Light sweet flavor with ash and dry cocoa. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Dry roast finish with burnt cocoa and dirt. Decent, hard-edged stuff.

Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. Amber with a tight white head; fresh, leafy aroma with a hint of tropical fruit; woody taste with delicate fruit in the background; and a clean dry finish. Lacking the full-on "fruit salad" effect expected from New Zealand hops, but instead this is well-balanced and rather subtle.

Draft at Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2013 - London. Pours clear gold with a light, white cream head. The nose has light tropical fruits, mango. Light to medium sweet flavor with juicy citrus, light minerals, honey, pale bread and orange. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with some sticky, ripening citrus fruits. Fair play.

Gravity dispense at Pigs Ear, 05/12/13. Lightly hazed amber with a moderate light beige covering that clears to a swirl. Nose is biscuit malt, fruits, sugars, faint lactic tang. Taste comprises bready malt, dark fruit, earthy notes, faint hop charge. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying finale with light bitterness. Fairly mediocre.
