Tap @ Keyaki Beer Festival Autumn 2017. Pours brown, bit of beige foam. Roast sweet aroma, cocoa, Tatstes bitter roast, actually lots of herbal bitterness, too much of it even. Chocolate and cocoa powder dry finish with more of that messy herbal thing lingering. More or less passable beer.

Tap @ Keyaki Beer Festival Autumn 2017. Murky orange, some white foam but not much of it. Some spice and pepper notes in the nose, raw herbs. Tastes bitter herbal, far from being balanced, messy brew with some medicinal bitterness. Sweetness in the body too, melon. Finish astringently bitter, dry.

Tap @ Keyaki Beer Festival Autumn 2017. Pours hazy yellow, a bit whitish. Spicy nose, wheaty, peppery, some sansho even. Tastes light fruity, not very carbonated. Some white wine and grape notes. Aftertaste bitter sweet, lemonady plus sweet dry grapes. Messy and not very balanced brew but some character comes still through.

At the tap takeover event at Before 9 and listed on the menu in English as an "American Chicken IPA" so is the chicken or the IPA american? A clear copper. The aroma has mild broth but good hoppiness. The taste is slightly salty but fairly clean, I gotta figure they didn’t add all that much broth to it...

I had this at Before 9 last month during my brother’s visit to Kyoto. A cloudy gold with a citrus and wheat aroma. The taste is cloves and chewy wheat and yuzu. Good stuff and having now had several of their other brews this is the one I probably enjoyed the most.

Named after the sandwichboards people put outside shops in Japan and an opaque copper color. This is a fairly clean Pale ale with decent hoppiness but not so memorable.

Tap at the Before 9 Takeover, my last beer of the night. Made with Marris Otter Malt. This Amber copper colored brew features w classic balanced IPA profile. Easy to drink but wouldn’t stand out from the crowd.

My first beer of the night at the Tap Takeover at Before 9. A very opaque cloudy gold. A fruity wheat aroma with a hearty dose of sweetness. Well balanced.

Tap at Before 9. Nose is pineapples, apples, orange, grapefruit. Grainy, bready, Mosaic is coming through nicely, with good crackery malt. Decent stuff. Favorite of the day.
