Bottle from a Cologne kiosk. Pours pale gold with a small white head. Aroma of light malt, light hop and grain. Quite sweet. Little bitterness. Light body, watery. Average carbonation. Finish is weak sweet malt. Not the best Kolsch.

Bottle from a Cologne kiosk. Shared and enjoyed whilst sat overlooking the Rhein. Pours a cloudy yellow/gold with a decent sized white head. Aroma of caramel, wheat and banana. Medium sweet, little by way of bitterness, very light sourness. Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation. Finish is caramel, moderate sweetness, touch soapy. Liked this.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy yellow color, full sized white head that lasts for quite a long time. Smell and taste malts, wheat, light to moderately bitter. Not a lot of flavor but it’s an ok beer.

Bottle on holiday. Unclear orange color, quickly disappearing fizzy off-white head. Aroma is banana, yeast, lightly herbal, a hint of citrus peel. Tastes almost the same: yeast, lightly wheat, lightly vegetal, lightly citrus peel and unripe banana. Average body and carbonation. Quite crappy, even for a weizen.

Buddel: A bit unclear, small and very slowly collapsing off-white creamy head; dryish toasty and fruity nose, hops and a tinge of chocolate detectable; moderate dry bitter flavour with a light residual sweetness, light bodied and a bit tart; lingering dry fruity-caramelly finish with lingering hops in the aftertaste. Alt op Kölsch, not the worst one…

0,5 l swingtop bottle from M&C Getränke, best before end of 2015. Hazy, pale straw yellow with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Slightly citric, floral-yeasty aroma with notes of bread, straw and lemon. Sweetish-fresh, floral-yeasty and slightly citric taste of straw and white bread with hints of lemon and vanilla, followed by a smooth, yeasty and minimally bitter finish. Thin to medium body, fresh and smooth mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Very easy drinking, highly refreshing and quite tasty. Extremely smooth on the palate and even somewhat floral and citric, making it so much more enjoyable than the average Kölsch. Good one!

500 ml bottle shared by Werckmeister, thanks!
Amber, hazy body, with a big, quite creamy, white head.
Aroma of ripe fruits, bread, honey, sweet fruits, spices.
Tastes of grass, lemon zest, orange, yeast, spices, some bread, some herbs, subtle sweet malts.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a low carbonation.
Finishes bitter, grassy, zesty, quite dry, a bit herbal, yeasty, a bit malty.
Good. Quite unique for this style, pretty fruity, but still a bit too light for my taste. Overall one of the better Kölsch beers I’ve had.
