Keg at Armazém da Cerveja, Porto. Cloudy straw colour, mid sized head. Aroma of apples, grass and papaya. Sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Syrup and fruity malt. Mashed pears. Low bitterness.

Bottle shared, courtesy of Pedro. No barrel character to talk about, the spices dont really show, the beer itself is light and comes short in character. One big mess, sadly.

Bottle shared, courtesy of Pedro. Aroma is quite okay, I’m a sucker for peat so there’s that, initial taste is similar, peat rules it, but then it becomes unbalancedly caramel-heavy leaning towards buttery, and the body is painfully thin, in the finish there’s basically nothing.

Bottle from Porta 50, Lisboa. At 10% abv. Lots of wood upfront, with dark malt, roast, some chocolate and caramel, and more subtle whiskey than I hoped for. Medium sweet flavour with a moderate bitterness. Medium to full body. Fairly rich and quite oaky, good.

Keg at Catraio, Porto, 28/10/22. Black topped with a khaki cap that retains well. Nose is chocolate shavings, Bounty bar, dark malts, molasses. Taste comprises chocolate, roasted bite, coconut shavings, dark malts, molasses, brown sugar dusting. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light boost on offer. Fun pastry, does what it says on the tin and sips easy for double digits.
